Lucy Lawless Joins "Battlestar Galactica"

leguizamo.jpgThe Sci Fi Channel has announced that Lucy Lawless will join the cast of its hit series "Battlestar Galactica" in the upcoming third season. Lawless will become a recurring cast member, reprising her role as reporter D'Anna Biers in a 10-episode arc. The third season begins production in Vancouver, Canada, in April.

Lawless -- best known to TV audiences as the lead in "Xena: Warrior Princess" -- first appeared on "Galactica" in the second-season episode "Final Cut," playing investigative journalist Biers, who was invited to the Galactica by President Roslin and Commander Adama to do an expose on alleged crew misconduct that resulted in the death of several civilians.

+++SPOILER ALERT!!+++
At the end of the episode, the audience learns that Biers is actually a humanoid Cylon agent sent to Galactica on a covert reconnaissance mission.

Lawless' second guest appearance will air on February 24th in the episode "Downloaded," which promises to give viewers their first real glimpse into the Cylon world.

Lawless joins the "Galactica" cast which includes Edward James Olmos, Mary McDonnell, Katee Sackhoff, Jamie Bamber, James Callis, Tricia Helfer and Grace Park.

"Battlestar Galactica" airs Fridays at 10 p.m. ET/PT. As always, be sure to stay tuned here at TV Fodder's Battlestar Fodder page for episode discussions and news. -- Shannon Nolley
