Franklin Cover Dies

jeffersons_fcover.jpgHe's moving on up -- surely to the ultimate deluxe apartment in the sky. ABC News is reporting that Franklin Cover, best known as Tom Willis on "The Jeffersons," has died. He was 77.

Cover died on of pneumonia on Sunday. He had been living at the Lillian Booth Actor's Fund of America home since December, trying to recover from a heart ailment.

The actor had spent time on the stage and the big-screen, and had numerous appearances on TV shows such as "Will & Grace," "Mad About You," "ER" and "All in the Family." However, he will always be remembered as half of one of comedy's first interracial couples -- and the endless butt of George Jefferson's jokes. Great cast and a classic show.

Cover is survived by a wife and two children. -- Rachel Cericola

Franklin Cover will be known forever as Tom Willis who is the husband of African-American Helen Willis, who was played by Roxie Roker on "The Jeffersons." God bless.
