Don Knotts Dies

dknotts.jpgNPR is reporting that Don Knotts has died. He was 81.

Knotts died Frirday of pulmonary and respiratory complications in Beverly Hills.

Best known as TV's Barney Fife from "The Andy Griffith Show" then later taking over as Mr. Furley on "Three's Company," the skinny funnyman's career spanned generations and earned him five Emmys.

Without a doubt, I will always remember him as "The Incredible Mr. Limpet" -- it's a toss-up between that and Luther Heggs from "The Ghost and Mr. Chicken."

Knotts most recent significant film role was in 1998's "Pleasantville." Since then, he has been doing a lot of TV and film voice work, most recently voicing the character of Mayor Turkey Lurkey in 2005's "Chicken Little." -- Rachel Cericola

Just want you to know that my hubby and his best friends can recite EVERYTHING Don Knotts ever said in Andy Griffith. They were deeply saddened this weekend. Maybe this will make TBS do the andy griffith marathon next year instead of the grave mistake they pulled this year by leaving out the best and funniest character ever.We will miss you but your legacy will live on in our homes

Don Knotts will be missed by all. One of this centuries most funny and talented comedians, for sure. Thanks for all of the laughs you have given us, and will continue to give us as our children watch your TV shows live on in syndication!
