She sparred with the gladiators, so taking over "SVU" should be a cakewalk. The New York Post says that "Gladiator" beauty Connie Nielsen will be taking over the lead in "Law & Order: SVU" while Mariska Hargitay is on maternity leave.
Nielsen will star as a detective on temporary assignment; her stint will last for six episodes. Hargitay's character will go on "special" assignment. How convenient!
No word on when Nielsen's first episodes will air. Her previous credits also include "Rushmore" and "The Ice Harvest." She can also be seen as the arm candy of Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich.
