"The Book of Daniel" is Closed

bookdaniel.jpgFor a show that made such a bang, "The Book of Daniel" is certainly going out with a whimper. After only four episodes, is reporting that NBC has cancelled the controversial drama.

Wow. The networks can't seem to exercise a little patience, can they? For a show that was only supposed to have seven episodes, they certainly were quick to pull it. However, they did show a bit more faith than ABC with Heather Graham's now-cancelled "Emily's Reasons Why Not." Maybe someone should get her together with Aidan Quinn. Between the two of them, there seems to be a sitcom in there somewhere.

I guess all publicity is not good publicity. The show garnered some slack for being blasphemous, and that didn't seem to help ratings. Don't go looking for more episodes; the cancellation is effective immediately. -- Rachel Cericola

How is the "creator/producer" a "[edited by TV Fodder]"? Is it because he tried to show a christian minister as having problems and dilemmas that some people deal with?

I'm not saying that everyone has these type of problems, but there are people that do. Just because you might not be able to identify with the show doesn't make it "gay" (if that's a bad thing?). Having different opinions and views are what makes this country great. Imposing one's views on someone else, I believe, is not "Democratic" or "Christian".

The creator/producers of this show are not imposing their views on anyone. You are allowed to change the channel or turn off your TV. If the creator/producer kidnapped you, held you hostage, strapped you to a chair, wired your eyes open and forced you to watch this show...then you'd be having his/her views imposed on you.

However, as I stated you have the options of changing the channel or turning off your TV. Religious groups like the AFA or the Moral Majority that spend thousands of dollars on boycotting TV stations and making death threats against them essentially end up making them nothing more than "Christian Terrorists".

Just because someone airs a show or speaks an opinion you don't agree with doesn't mean you have to believe in it. This isn't "1984", people don't need to believe the same way that everybody else does. I suppose though, that if the so-called conservative christian groups have their way we'll be living in a facsist, government run state in no time.

I deleted the first comment. You have the right to say that you think a show sucks or even that the creator sucks... but we do not allow libel or hate on this board. Sorry! Make your own board or go to Yahoo!

I just want to say as an episcopalian, that I was not offended or upset about the show. just because it deals with reality in the usa today. There are people in the pews in every church that have to deal with all theses problems daily. The show just portrays them. Too bad people choose to deny reality. I am proud of a show and a church that tries to deal with our culture and its problems in a loving way.

I enjoyed "Book of Daniel" , sorry to see it was taken off the air.

I assume it was to real for some of our citizens who do not wish to face the real world and laugh at our selfs.

I watched the series in Russia. All of the eight episodes. It was marvelous and refreshing. A bit too straight (huh!) considering all those church and faith things, but still very fair and extremely interesting. It's a great pity knowing they've closed the show. Isn't the USA an apologete of freedom and tolerance anymore?
