Will Spike TV's new venture suck? Hopefully. ComingSoon.net says the network for men has ordered 13 episodes of "Blade," based on the Marvel superhero turned action-movie franchise.
In the films, Wesley Snipes played Blade. Kirk "Sitcky" Jones (FX's "Over There") takes the lead on the small screen. Nelson Lee ("Traffic: The Miniseries"), Jill Wagner ("Junebug"), Neil Jackson ("Breakfast on Pluto") and Jessica Gower ("All Saints") are also on board for some butt-kicking -- on both the giving and receiving ends.
The story follows Blade as he takes on the seedy underworld that is trying to wipe out the human race. Not an easy feat, considering he is half vampire himself.
Expect less blood and gore, since it's good ole cable TV, but at least you can get your violence fix on a weekly basis. The two-hour pilot for "Blade" is set to premiere in June on Spike. -- Rachel Cericola
