Matthew Perry Back at NBC

mperry.jpgThere is still no "Friends" reunion in the works, but Matthew Perry will still be collecting a few checks. ComingSoon.net says that the former "Friends" star has been tapped to star in an untitled drama based on the behind-the-scenes antics at a sketch-comedy series, similar to "Saturday Night Live."

After the failures of "The Comeback" and "Joey," this third time has got to be a charm!

It doesn't hurt that the show, previous known as "Studio 7," will also star comedian D.L. Hughley and Steven Weber ("Wings"). With a cast like that, it's got to be good, right?

Perry will star as a "genius" comic writer, Weber is the head of the network and Hughley will be a star of the sketch show.

The show was originally created by Thomas Schlamme and "West Wing" creator Aaron Sorkin. Supposedly they wrote Perry's character with him in mind. No word on when the show might air. -- Rachel Cericola
