"Last Comic Standing" Still Stands

heffron.jpgApparently someone funny is still out there. The Futon Critic says that NBC is bringing back "Last Comic Standing," the competition that searches for the funniest person in America.

The question is not why they are bringing it back, but how. The first season was downright horrible. The second season seemed to work well (although I am still waiting for a show or special from winner John Heffron). The third season -- well, who knows? The network cut it off before the winner was revealed. The bottom line: What happens after you are crowned "Last Comic Standing?" I have not seen a special, an album or anything else. What I do occasionally see are some of the cast-offs touring my local comedy clubs under the show's title. But they don't have the title -- maybe they should go something like The Biggest Losers (ba-dum-bum).

No word on when the show will premiere or if creator Jay Mohr will return to his hosting duties. -- Rachel Cericola
