New "Apprentice" is Chosen

rpinkett.jpgIn a season of heights and ratings lows, one man reigned supreme. It wasn't the billionaire with the funky hair; it was Randal Pinkett, who USA Today says is the winner of the fourth installment of Donald Trump's "The Apprentice."

I'm happy for the guy; I really am. But does anyone know where the other three winners are now? Maybe their hopes and dreams are buried under Trump Tower or maybe they are using money as kindling in some penthouse somewhere. I just know there was a Bill in there somewhere.

Real-estate mogul Pinkett wasn't exactly a newbie to this business world. He is, however, the first African-American to win the reality show. He will oversee the expansion and renovation of Trump's three casinos in Atlantic City. -- Rachel Cericola

Sometimes winning is everything...and that clearly was the case with Randall who had an impeccable reputation for being a nice guy, but in the live finale, he proved otherwise. When faced with the choice between being gracious or selfish, Randal chose greedy. Without regard to what Trump wanted or what was best for The Trump Organization, Randal unequivocally mopped the floor with Becky. Apparently Randal is nice only when it serves his own purposes and sharing the spotlight and The Apprentice title were not among them. We will need to stay tuned to find out why it's so important to stay true to what made you successful in the first place.

Great post!

I believe Randal and Alla were the exceptional members of Apprentice 4. Rebecca was a real trooper considering her perseverence after breaking her ankle. However, she didn't bring anything exceptional to the table. She's very young and inexperienced. She failed twice as project manager and succeeded the third time with Randal's help. I believe Trump's request is racist. Randal won fair and square. Why is he expected to share the spotlight. Randal is head and shoulders superior to all of the previous three apprentices. Bill Ransic was not asked to share his win with Kwami, whom I believe was superior to Bill Ransic in everyway. It's really sad that in 2005 racism continues to prevail.

I have to agree that Randall won fair and square. As far as him making the decision to not hire Rebecca...IT WAS A REASONABLE ONE. IT WAS NOT A GREEDY DECISION! First off, the show called for one winner. Second, everyone keeps throwing race in all of this. Randall holds higher degrees in engineering, business, and technology...ONE OF THE MOST THREE IMPORTANT ELEMENTS IN A BUSINESS ESPECIALLY REAL ESTATE. Plus, look how he handled tasks. Last but not least, HE RUNS FIVE SUCCESSFUL BSUINESS. This man is trying to move on up. Trump would have been a fool if he let Rebecca win.

Sorry Rebecca, but Randle is the man!! He carried you on several occasions, and when you had your chances, you did and said the same thing he said at the end!! Like not stepping up to the plate, and even last night's comments went against him - REMEMBER!!! Proof is the millions that heard the same thing I did! I'm sure Trump heard them too, but did a bad job of trying to cover for you. Your AMAZING recovery after carrying that crutch for such a long time was a good try for pity, but mostly a joke!! Trump's side kicks tried too to beef you up and down play your lack and it was way too obvious what was going on!! I agree, Bill wasn't the best either, but the Apprentice is Trump's toy, so he is going to do what he wants regardless!! It wouldn't surprise me one bit if he hired you anyway! But you are not the "Apprentice" and that's a given!!

Well Randals true color came out.

To Delores Dunmeyer : What?? Racism? What are you talking about? Trump was trying to get two for the price of one! How is that racism? And I total agree with Randal - he worked hard - why should his win be diluted by sharing with someone else? Even more, why should his win be undermined by someone pulling out the race card?

Mr. Trump is a little too liberal in his use of the word “star.” Unless he wants the word to lose all meaning whenever it flows from his lips, he should stop slapping the word star on every pretty young sassy lady that appears on his show. He’s not doing Rebecca any favors by overstating her abilities and performance, and he’s not doing women any favor with this attitude either. I am a woman and if women want to play on the same turf as men, we should be held to the same standards of success.

Sure, Rebecca displayed some good personal qualities that are beneficial to effective leaders:
1) Toughness – hanging in there with a broken ankle
2) Loyalty – sticking up for Toral
3) Teamwork – when she stepped up to the plate and delivered the Star Wars presentation when her teammate backed out at the last minute

All of these personal attributes are of benefit when you possess the main attribute that was actually being measured and assessed during this 13-week long competition – i.e. LEADERSHIP ABILITY.

Each project manager’s leadership ability was ultimately measured by whether or not his/her team WON the task over the other team. REBECCA LOST EVERY TASK except the one where she worked with Randal in a two-person team to film the Microsoft commercial and, even then, it was clear that Randal was instrumental in helping her to achieve that win. He took the lead in forcing Rebecca to make a decision about the crappy actor she hired and actually took the place of the actor in the commercial (watch the tape of that show). Not to mention the fact that Rebecca did not raise one red cent for her charity in the final task – not a penny! Why is everyone ignoring that? Randal’s sponsors also told him not to ask the high profile guests for money, but he did so anyway. She didn’t raise any money! How is she a star?

Everyone else has to actually prove themselves to achieve victory, but when a woman is involved the standards are lowered to accommodate the Rebecca’s of the world. Is that it? That’s it – lower the standard for the pretty girl.

Rebecca is not Randal’s equal and she is no star. The right person won and Randal should never have been asked to share his victory – yes, asking him to allow Rebecca to be hired as well is the same has asking him to share is well-earned victory – and with an inferior candidate! No other apprentice had to share their victory, so why Randal? It was unfair and an insult. Randal was a stellar candidate – one of the best the show has ever had – and Trump cheapened the victory by doing that to him. He made the victory about Rebecca when it should have been Randal’s moment to enjoy.

Mr. Trump owes Randal an apology.

I had enjoyed watching you show last season. I really agree with your choice that Dand. was a good choice but I found it ashamed that he resufed the other runner to be hired as well.
I doesn't show me sigh of generosity. He had nothing to loose by saying YES to Mr. Trump proposition . In the opposite, Randal will have make a difference in the bussiness world meaning sharing for the sake of sharing.
Personally, he lost my respect by showing narrow minded.

We like the apprentice very much, a great reality show.
This year the show was a little different; Mr. Trump fired on several occasions two or more candidates.
Why, because everyone was blaming another person. If you work together you share the benefits together, if you loose, you loose together and on many tasks, it was the candidates own fault. Than after the lost, they tried to blame their fellow team members and that's why more than one got fired. Its funny but that is life. Winner always want to take the credit by themselves but looser always want to blame others.
Randall was good no denying, but he got his job in Atlantic City. Then he had an opportunity to have his follow candidate, the same person that was on HIS side in the last 2-3 tasks, the same person that made him win and that made “him” make it to the finish, to come to the last two persons standing. That same person that would not, interfere with his job in Atlantic City. He would not give that person a Job.
This has nothing to with racism, but with African American mentality

I have just one question.
If you are soooo successful, have 5 businesses and make sooo much money.

Why do you want than work for Mr. Trump?
I am sure that working for Mr. Trump is not a piece of cake, a walk in the park.
But walking on thin ice every single moment of the day and I mean 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

Randall you are a looser.

Randall won because HE DESERVED TO WIN!

So just accept that!
