Sheree North Dies

snorth.jpgFor me, one of the defining moments of the 90s was when Sheree North yelled out that magical word: "Cosmo."

So it's kind of saddening that is reporting that the actress that played Babs Kramer has died at the age of 72.

North actually had a long career before she blurted that word. According to, her first film was 1951's "Excuse My Dust" with Red Skelton. She also went on to star opposite big names like Lloyd Bridges, Henry Fonda, Sam Shepard, and even B-movie king Bruce Campbell. She even had a stint as Lou Grant's girlfriend on the "Mary Tyler Moore." Judging by the photo to the right, I really think she could have done better -- a lot better.

Also judging by that pic, it's no surprise that the movie studios once saw her as a Marilyn Monroe substitute, which was convenient since Monroe wasn't the most reliable actress in Hollywood back then. North also went on to star as Monroe's mother in the 1980 made-for-TV movie, "Marilyn: The Untold Story."

North died Friday from complications from cancer surgery. She is survived by her husband, two daughters from previous marriages and one grandchild. -- Rachel Cericola

I always took the time to watch her. When she passed I went out,and bought "A Real American Hero" with Brian Dennehy. She only had a small part, but she was always nice to watch.I consider her one of the sexiest actresses.
