Oprah to Appear on Letterman

letterman.jpgRemember the Uma/Oprah fiasco? Oprah must have blocked it out because the Associated Press is reporting that the queen of daytime will appear on Letterman's "Late Show" on December 1.

Of course, she's not just stopping by to bury the hatchet and wish Dave a happy holiday; the appearance is in conjunction with the opening of "The Color Purple" on Broadway, which she is producing.

It's the first time Oprah has been on "The Late Show" since 1993, when Letterman was still on 1993. In case you forgot, Oprah was upset that she has been the butt on some of Letterman's jokes. "This just gives you an idea of what a big, big star this really is," Letterman said on Monday. "She's huge. Put bygones behind us, the water under the bridge, over the dam, wherever water goes -- standing in your basement -- she's going to be here on this show and it's going to be fantastic."

I can understand Dave's excitement, but please. If she can't take a joke, she has plenty of money to wipe her tears.

Letterman has also declined appearing on her show in the past. Guess he has nothing to promote.

"The Late Show with David Letterman" appears every weeknight at 11:35 p.m. (EST) on CBS. "The Oprah Winfrey Show" appears daily in various markets. Check your local listings for showtimes. --- Rachel Cericola
