Variety says that ABC has picked up an unscripted series called "Life of Leisure." I read it would be similar to "Curb Your Enthusiasm," which seems like some very big shoes to fill. Then I also read that the main character is a depressed 20-something guy who decides to move into his parents' retirement community. It sounds kind of funny, but have the producers ever seen "Curb Your Enthusiasm?" The shows sound nothing alike. I guess it has the same "feel" since "Leisure" relies mostly on improv.
NBC has picked up the pilot "Kidnapped." Zap2it says it's sort of like "24," following one plot over an entire season. Up for the first ransom is a wealthy New York family's teenage son. The project is from Jason Smilovic and Michael Dinner, with Sony TV, 25C Productions and NBC Universal Television.
You can never have too many lawyers, right? Maybe that's why Fox has ordered another Jerry Bruckheimer drama, "American Crime." Defamer.com says the show focuses on LA's high-powered celebrity lawyers. John Carroll Lynch was scheduled to star, but he is currently on another legal drama, CBS' "Close to Home."
DAG is back! Well, maybe. Broadcasting & Cable says that David Alan Grier might be the next one in line for a talk show shot. A male host? I am hoping for the next Merv. It would be a huge bonus if he has his boobs felt up and gives away cars too.
In an effort to push more music out of their lineup, MTV is adding another reality show. The Futon Critic says that "Cheerleader" follows a year in the life of a competitive squad based in Kentucky. Laurie Girion, who was behind the TLC reality show, is helming the project. -- Rachel Cericola
