How do you make a medical drama stand out from the sea of white coats already overwhelming today's TV audience? Give your main character a compulsive gambling problem. The Hollywood Reporter says that TNT has signed actor Tom Everett Scott to play such a lead in its new drama, "Saved."
Scott's claim to fame was the lead in the Tom Hanks joint, "That Thing You Do!" He has since been seen in "Dead Man on Campus" and "Boiler Room," as well as the recurring TV role on another medical drama, "ER." He will star in the new show as Wyatt Henry, who didn't actually make it to the white coat stage, since he dropped out and became a paramedic.
"Saved" begins production this week. TNT hasn't made a final decision on whether to air it or not. Expect to find out early next year. -- Rachel Cericola
