I always knew that Nicolas Cage was sort of a closet geek. Maybe it was all of that Elvis stuff. It may not be very rock and roll, but the Sci Fi Wire says that Cage is branching out on his geekdom, bringing "The Dresden Files" to the Sci Fi Channel.
Cage will act as executive producer for the two-hour proposed pilot. Based on a series of best-selling Jim Butcher novels, the premise has wizard/private eye Harry Dresden using his superpowers to help solve crimes in Chicago. If all goes well with the movie, the Sci Fi Channel has the option to pick it up as a regular series.
The movie is scheduled to shoot this fall. Expect it to premiere on the Sci Fi Channel in summer 2006. -- Rachel Cericola
