MTV Creates "Seventeen" Queens

17loft.jpgIf you had been wondering how to scar your children at a young age, consider a stint in reality TV. MTV has just the program to scare them straight -- "Miss Seventeen." The New York Times says that "Seventeen" magazine has teamed with the "music" network to find America's ultimate role model, all while crushing the hopes and dreams of the 16 other girls that don't make the cut.

Like "American Idol," the competition will draw from all areas of the country, as well as cultural and economic backgrounds. Unfortunately, you only get to participate by witnessing the horror. Contestants will be kicked off at the discretion of the magazine's editor-in-chief, Atoosa Rubenstein.

The one that gets crowned "Miss Seventeen" will receive a college scholarship and an appearance as the magazine's cover model. They also receive an internship. Wow, a semester of getting coffee and abuse? Seems more like the booby prize -- and a whole other show!

"Miss Seventeen" premieres Monday, October 17 at 10:30 p.m. (EST) on MTV. -- Rachel Cericola
