HBO Wants Wyclef

wyclef.jpgWyclef may be funky, but is he funny? He's popped up in a few independent films and as a guest star on "Third Watch." Now Billboard says the Fugees frontman has signed a deal to produce and star in a comedy for HBO.

The project is in the early stages of development, but what is known is that Jean will co-write and star in it. Not a bad idea, since it's loosely based on his life. One thing to look forward to: He will also pen original music for the show. Gee -- do you think a soundtrack release will be in works?

Jean isn't exactly giving up his day job at this point though. He recently reunited with bandmates Lauren Hill and Pras, and will start touring Europe on November 30. Expect an album at some point next year. -- Rachel Cericola
