George Clooney To Remake "Network"

clooney.jpgIt worked so well for "Ocean's 11," so why wouldn't George Clooney want to remake another classic? The New York Post is reporting that the uber-hunk plans to bring the classic movie "Network" to TV -- and it's going to be live.

If you haven't seen the original, go out and rent it. It's an excellent (and sort of ironic) look at the fine line between TV news and entertainment. Clooney is no stranger to live TV, previously acting in a live episode of "ER" and the live TV movie "Fail Safe." Expect big ratings for this one. Nearly 16 million tuned in for "Fail Safe" and that was in black and white!

The live movie event will air on CBS. No word when it will be and in what capacity Clooney will be involved. He's currently out promoting a completely different look at TV news, his new flick "Good Night, and Good Luck." -- Rachel Cericola

Trivial Tidbit: In "Out of Sight" Clooney woos Jennifer Lopez by talking about "Network" while they're both locked in a trunk.

Trivial Observation: This remake is going to require an exceptional cast. The dialogue is fast and furious in "Network" ... and the original cast had the benefit of reshoots!

Remember: George is pretty well connected.

"Fail Safe" had Richard Dreyfuss, Harvey Keitel, Noah Wyle, Brian Dennehy, James Cromwell, Don Cheadle, Sam Elliot and Hank Azaria, among others. That's nothing to sneeze at!
