"Doctor Who" Gets Dirty

barrowman.jpgOn a scale of sexiness, the words "Doctor Who" and the word "sexy" aren't in the same neighborhood. That's why it's so puzzling to hear Contact Music report that they are making a sexy version of the classic "Dr. Who."

Actually, the 13-part sci-fi show isn't another remake; it's a spin-off titled "Torchwood." Creator Russell T. Davies says the title is actually an anagram of Doctor Who. It also takes the show to another level -- the adult one, including a bit of sex and some swearing. Fans might recognize the main character, the bi-sexual Captain Jack (played by John Barrowman), from the first season of the revised series.

Barrowman just finished shooting the big-screen remake of "The Producers" with Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick.

Davies will serve as the head writer and executive producer. "Torchwood" is scheduled to premiere on BBC3 next year. -- Rachel Cericola
