This fall's freshman TV lineup isn't even off the chopping block yet, and already CBS is planning ahead. The Hollywood Reporter says that the network has given a 13-episode commitment for 2006 to "The Class," a new show from one of the creators of "Friends."
It was pretty wise of them to seal the deal so early, since a bidding war had already erupted between a few of the networks.
The regular story will spawn off the pilot, where we see 27-year-old Ethan recreate his first day of the third grade, as a sentimental nod to the day when he met his girlfriend. Part of the party's lineup includes six former kiddie classmates. What unfolds is sort of a reunion and a look at how they all manage to stay in each other's lives.
Just don't expect "Friends, Part 2." Supposedly the show will feel more like a drama -- not at all to be confused with FOX's drama "Reunion."
Another thing you won't see: all of the kids all hanging out at Central Perk. Rumor has it that the show will focus more on each character's individual life. No word on casting or a timeslot. -- Rachel Cericola
