Constantine Gets a Sitcom

constantine.jpgI wanted to get this story out earlier, but it was making me physically sick. People has reported that "American Idol" flunkie Constantine Maroulis has signed a deal with the devil. That is really the only explanation for his new ABC sitcom deal.

Here I was thinking ABC was turning itself around -- what a fool I was! I guess I should lighten up. Maroulis obviously has some talent. After all, he hypnotized producer Kelsey Grammer into thinking this was a good idea.

There's no word on the plot or what role Maroulis will play. I can only hope that he won't be singing.

Got something to say? Post a comment:

Apparently Ms. Cericola has some personal issues that she needs to learn how to deal with instead of lashing out at an innocent AI contestant. Personally, I am THRILLED for Constantine and I'll be very disappointed if he DOESN'T sing.

-- Posted by: Heavenly at September 30, 2005 6:17 PM

Hmmm. Does this writer have issues? Constantine "wow"ed 'em all summer on the AI tour, and has demonstrated grace and talent under bigtime pressures. A show on ABC sounds like someone at the network was paying attention, and knew that people would watch. =Especially= to hear him sing.

Congratulations, Constantine, on landing this show.

I say stand back and let the man do his thing.

-- Posted by: ThinkingPerson at September 30, 2005 6:26 PM

Wow Rachel.. what's really eating you? Does Con remind you of some guy that blew you off at happy hour or something? Gosh, it's just a TV show and guess what.. YOU DON'T HAVE TO WATCH IT! I'll bet there's other TV shows you could watch instead! Or maybe.. here's an idea! Try reading a book. Use your energy for something more positive and maybe you'll have some friends!

-- Posted by: Sophie at September 30, 2005 6:40 PM

Ms. Cericola must have been under the weather when she wrote this. Otherwise, why would she insult Kelsey Grammar, one of the most talented people we've seen on television? To saw that he was hypnotized is like saying he didn't know what he was doing. Maybe Cericola needs to expand her horizons a little and then listen to Constantine sing. She will be pleasantly surprised and might even enjoy herself.

-- Posted by: Farinesstoall at September 30, 2005 6:58 PM

I do have issues. Deep ones. I have issues with the fact that they give out TV shows like Cracker Jack prizes. And like those Cracker Jack prizes, they ain't what the used to be. Most of them SUCK.

As far as Kelsey Grammer goes. My guess is that he is back on the coke. But you are all correct. Constantine (will NEVER call him Con) has an audience. Enjoy your ham salad, everyone.

And thanks for reading!

-- Posted by: Rachel at September 30, 2005 7:02 PM

Mzybe you should do a better job at proofreading - "your" not "you" ham salad. Yep, your writing skills certainly impress me!

Someone your age really shouldn't be eating Cracker Jack for the candy coated popcorn or for the prizes...try carrot sticks! Much healthier and it might take care of that constipation problem of yours.

It's interesting that someone who writes for a TV site continues to insult an actor/comedian who has won MANY Emmys for his TV work. I guess it just explains your bad (or lack of) taste.

And btw - we don't care if you call him Con or not, and I doubt he cares either!

-- Posted by: Amused at September 30, 2005 7:18 PM

WOW -- you are fast Amused. I was just correcting that and you beat me to it.

Thanks for reading!

-- Posted by: Rachel at September 30, 2005 7:21 PM

Yo. So who died and made you Einstein? Actors act. That's what they do. Have you ever spoken with Constantine in person? Was he not courteous and polite? And you don't know what all transpired for the birthing of this show, it could have been a long long labor of love. Hope your boss reads your comments...... If you expect people to respect your opinion, you might try saying something a little less poisonous.

-- Posted by: ThinkingPerson at September 30, 2005 7:25 PM

To each his own Rachel. Not everybody loved Elvis or the Beatles either!

Constantine has the talent to be THE Entertainer of this millenium and I'm sorry that your missing the ride he's giving us (his loyal fans)!!! I love everything about Constantine and can't wait for his TV show, album and any other gig he chooses to entertain us.

-- Posted by: Wanda at September 30, 2005 7:28 PM

Tell us Rachel. Who do you think is talented and worthy of a TV show if not Constantine? Constantine is a once in a life time singing talent that I hold among the greats of my era. And trust me. There were many many more greats in my era than there are in yours. Your problem is that you have never seen or heard a great pop singer because there aren't any currently. You have nothing and no one to compare him with. Your deprived life is on display for all to see.

-- Posted by: Kahuna at September 30, 2005 7:29 PM

Some people need to get out more often.

Constantine will be around for many, many years acting and singing. He's already a household name!

Congratulations CON! Well deserved!

-- Posted by: Jennifer at September 30, 2005 7:31 PM

Are you supposed to be a writer? If so where's this story you are talking about. There's nothing there to be a story, just a bunch of insignicant, poisonous words.

-- Posted by: Dave at September 30, 2005 8:09 PM

I hope you are not being paid to write "articles" like this because someone is wasting his or her money. Constantine has millions of fans who love his singing. If you'd kept track of the 41 American Idol concerts all across America this summer, with 10,000 to 20,000 attending each one, you'd realize that he was one of the most popular--if not THE most idolized--singer who performed in this venue. I am thrilled that he'll be on my TV again every week in the near future. I'm trying to figure out who your audience is. On the American Idol message boards, there were a few "trolls" who had a similar tone in bashing all the singers. They were usually 12- to 15-year-old boys who didn't know what to do with their testosterone and had nothing better to do that create mayhem. Perhaps these guys are your audience? If so, you all deserve each other.

-- Posted by: Emma at September 30, 2005 8:14 PM

Oh ... my. Rach, I think you've touched the soft underbelly of the zeitgeist.

The person who should have gotten a show (and won AI #1 -- even though I still think Kelly is awesome), is Tamyra. "House is Not a Home" baby!

-- Posted by: mac at September 30, 2005 8:18 PM

Why do people get off on being mean to others? Shouldn't we be happy for the blessings that come upon one person? Or is being mean a way to deal with such insecurities and jealousies?

-- Posted by: sheila at September 30, 2005 9:20 PM

OK, Rachel, they're handing out TV shows like prizes in a Cracker Jack box. But what makes this guy any less qualified to be the star of a TV show than any other 'aspiring' star? He can sing, he can act. That's more than you can say for most of the would-be stars on TV these days. Well, I think he can sing, you don't. And even you've got to admit, he's got fans. Obviously.

-- Posted by: Paul at September 30, 2005 9:41 PM

Paul: I wish I had a prize to give you. All I can give you is props. You are 100% correct. The guy definitely has fans... I will admit it. And I will also admit that people will obviously watch his show. I just don't have to like it -- as others don't have to like my writing.

Thanks for reading!

-- Posted by: Rachel at September 30, 2005 9:57 PM

Peoples' personal tastes in anything/anyone so often confound us! Obviously you don't share so many folks' delight - yes, delight - in Constantine. As one who appreciates his showmanship and singing (yep), I'm happy I'll be seeing him again. Looks like lots of folks will be happy too. Be nice, Rachel ;)

-- Posted by: Teach at September 30, 2005 11:25 PM

It's one thing to say you do not want to watch the show, it is quite another, Miss Rachel, to say it is making you physically sick.

I look forward to watching you eat your words.

-- Posted by: Rori at October 1, 2005 12:19 AM

LOL...it will be fun to watch Constantine make it big and then remember peope like Rachel...You've got some issues

-- Posted by: Holly at October 1, 2005 1:33 AM

Out of all the absolute crap on TV, Im thrilled to see someone who is as all-around talented as Constantine Maroulis get a TV show. This guy is the whole package: actor, singer, stage presence, good-looking, has fans falling at his feet. What MORE could you ask for from someone for a television show?? Do a little research before you backhand someone so quickly. Sheesh! He will succeed FAR more than any other contestant on the oh-so-rigged AI4.

-- Posted by: Keri at October 1, 2005 12:04 PM

Hey Rachel, If it is so easy to get a TV show, where is yours, oh yeah Mary Hart has it....take out your frustrations on someone else, Constantine is a hard working young man who, like other entertainers, has waited a long time for a break, he finally gets one and mean spirited people like you are foaming at the mouth to tear it away from him. His fans knew all this would happen a long time ago. Just wait, it has only begun!

-- Posted by: Darlene at October 1, 2005 12:15 PM

Wow, I really can't beleive that someone has such a bad opinion of Con and his fans. I have never been involved with anything like this before and love the whole experience but I have been amazed at how bitter some people like you are. Why can't you let Con and his fans enjoy all that is going on without feeling the need to critisise him.Does it really matter that you don't like him, just don't watch him but please don't spoil it for him and his fans.He has worked hard and deserves it all and more. Perhaps anger management might help you.

-- Posted by: Michele at October 1, 2005 12:32 PM

Jeez, how bitter can you be? What did Constantine ever do to you to make you loathe him so much. He's talented, hard-working, and gorgeous. Give him a break, please. If you don't care for his singing, OK fine. You don't have to. But why be so hateful.

-- Posted by: Blanche at October 1, 2005 1:09 PM

I'm so sorry to hear that your idea for a sitcom with that network didn't work out. I assume that this has to be the reason for your bitterness and jealousy!

-- Posted by: Marianne at October 1, 2005 1:09 PM

Why were you in such a rush to get your craptastic story out earlier? Because Constantine Maroulis= attention, and you crave it. Apparently they give out tv fodder space like cracker jack prizes, because not only is there no news in this column, its not even written well, and its so biased. I think one of the previous writers is correct, Constantine reminds you of someone who made an ass out of you. I for one think he has a beautiful voice, and he got much praise for his brief comedic spot on the Idol finale this year. Its that kind of thing that grabbed Kelsey Grammer's attention. You obviously know nothing about tv if you don't respect the man who brought us "Frasier" for many, many years.

-- Posted by: lizzie at October 1, 2005 2:30 PM

This comment is directed at Lizzi.
Someone said Con reminded Rachel of someone who made an ass out of her??
LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL
Oh boy! I didn't think about that one!
That would definately make her become a bitter and angry witch! Just in time for Halloween!!!
LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

-- Posted by: Marianne at October 1, 2005 3:29 PM

Hey Rachel, get over it honey. Your opinion is just that, yours....and who are you again?
Does Constantine or Kelsey Grammer care what you think? I am sure they have no idea you exist, neither did I before someone sent me this link.
Who is the real loser here? The one with the pending TV show or the one with the two-bit website that just happened to get picked up in a Google search. Your advertising $$$ are working for you, but again who cares?

-- Posted by: Joyce at October 1, 2005 3:35 PM

It is a mystery to me how anyone can be so negative and venemous about a person as talented, admired and loved as Constantine. Can millions of fans all over the world be wrong? I don't think so. You have offended a lot of people..that tells me you are doing something wrong. I think you owe Constantine, Kelsey Grammer and their fans an apology.

-- Posted by: Maureen at October 1, 2005 4:10 PM

Obviously you haven't seen him perform live because that is an experience that will turn you into a Constantine fan forever. He is electric.

If you don't like the show don't watch, but you will be in the minority because more and more people are learning about the magic of Constantine and how awsome a performer he really is.

-- Posted by: Leann at October 1, 2005 4:17 PM

Wow Rachel, jealous much? As someone stated above, I have never even heard of you until I got sent the link to your pathetic, hateful words. I do hope you eat them when Constantine Maroulis and his devoted fans have the last laugh on non-believers such as yourself.

It's one thing to inform people of news, but it's another thing to be intentially cruel and attack a fellow human being. Get a hobby.

-- Posted by: Kristin at October 1, 2005 6:37 PM

I know I should not write anything. Because obviously all this poor person wanted was to get messages. Otherwise she would be too lonely. That's the way she found to draw attention. Well, she got it. For wrong reasons, now everybody knows how silly she is, but it's attention, anyway. So I am writing only to ask you to ignore her from now on, please. Let's use our energy sharing love.

-- Posted by: Virginia Abreu de Paula at October 1, 2005 7:02 PM

I'm with Rachel Cericola. Constantine Marolis certainly is no big draw and has no audience. This is evidenced by his lack of cd selling power. Didn't Queen put him on the Killer Queen tribute because they thought he would sell platinum in a week? Totally didn't happen. So why base a tv show around him? This guy is creepy and full of himself. Judging by his American Idol stink, he must be a better actor than singer. Who would want to watch this crap? Constantine needs to be on broadway or soap operas. He has that overacting thing down pat.

-- Posted by: Sammy Hill at October 1, 2005 7:18 PM

Oh gross! I, too, am going to be physically sick. What's the deal with all the Connee cult fanatics? He lost on American Idol midway for a reason. He is leery and looks like he could give you any number of STD's just by looking at you. I hear this show is about Constantine's life before Idol. It's a comedy and it's a half hour long. Does that mean Constantine's life has been short and funny?

-- Posted by: Beth at October 1, 2005 7:23 PM

I always knew this guy was more of an actor than a singer. He belongs on broadway, but I hope his show works out. His music career hasn't been too successful.

-- Posted by: joe schmoe at October 1, 2005 8:26 PM

Yes, Rachael has a big butt and never got to go to the prom. Rachael is an ugly one. At least she has her tremendous writing skills going for her. She will go far!!!!!! BIGGGGG BUTTTTT RACHAELLLLLL.

Oh I'm a writer of critiques too. See how talented I am? Rachael and I are smart ones but too bad we have such big butts. That's really gonna hold us back I'm afraid. You know... society. Us big butt folks don't get the respect we deserve. NOTTTT FAIRRRRRR!!!!!!

-- Posted by: houston max at October 1, 2005 8:40 PM

How true Houston. Big Butt Rachael is such a talented analytical writer, she should be the one writing all of the new sit coms as well as choosing the talent. But noooooooo. Just because of her large rear end, she is limited to writing critical snark about others. It is an unjust world we live in.

-- Posted by: strongarm luke at October 1, 2005 8:46 PM

Wow. It's absolutely shocking that people are just so incredibly cruel and hateful about nothing more than the good fortune of strangers. Don't you have anything better to invest your energy in Rachel? Constantine may not have been everyone's favorite, but at least most people have the decorum and civility necessary to at least wish him well even if they don't intend to tune in. Damn... *shakes head incredulously*

-- Posted by: Pen at October 1, 2005 8:53 PM

What the hell are you smoking? Writing such a nasty article over someone just trying to have a career. You've got issues......... And you are probably right, Constantine probably has a lot of fans and you just pissed many of them off. Smart move........God! Although as nasty as you are I'm sure you don't give a crap.

-- Posted by: Judi at October 1, 2005 9:09 PM

This is in response to Beth, who was one of a very few who agreed with Rachael. "What's up with all the Connie cultist?", you ask.

Is it so abnormal for those who appreciate and enjoy an artist to come to his defense when he is attacked? Is it better to be one who will sit and try to think of the most vile venom to spew against an entertainer simply because they are not their type?

I am a fan, not a cultist. Rachael and yourself are bitter haters and are ever so welcome to change the channal any time something you don't enjoy is on TV. That's not fun for you though is it? You would rather be hateful.

-- Posted by: katieharr at October 1, 2005 9:45 PM

All I have to say is that all the responses to Cericola's article are childish and immature. Grow up. You are all a bunch of immature 12 year old morons. All of your responses have the intelligence of an infant. There is a reason this Connie girl is a loser and will always be a loser. Connie has no talent. He came out with a cd and it bombed. If he gets a tv show, it will have the worst ratings ever. Nobody care except for you little 12 year old losers. Rachel Cericola's article was intelligent and well written. Responses, saying she has a big butt and she is jealous, are completely idiotic. You idiots need to be elimiated. Hopefully, when Constantine is banished to broadway or soap operas will you twits shut your ignorant mouths.

Yes Steven Laker, they are all idiots. Can't you tell? They have sure raised the level of intelligent discourse in here. Rachel Cericola sure was told! LOL! That was sarcasm.

My guess is this critic didn't see Mr. Maroulis in RENT.
Bring a legit talented "heart-throb" to the small screen I say and PLEASE have him sing!
Might I suggest casting the VERY TALENTED Melody Easton as his on-screen love interest. Now THAT would be a show worth watching!!

-- Posted by: DAWN KATE at October 2, 2005 7:26 AM

People have different tastes I understand, but to say such awful things about Constantine is wrong. Constantine has an awesome voice, and he is the sexiest man alive in my book, and millions of red blooded women agree. Maybe you are not heterosexual that is the only thing I can figure out, or you are trying to get some attention for bashing the soon to be most successful idol contestant ever. Who are you that you can publicly bash the most amazing man that ever lived. F*** you lady!!!

-- Posted by: Rhonda at October 2, 2005 12:06 PM

Constantine is not talented or good looking. He can't sing and he's very very fat!

-- Posted by: Jack Smith at October 2, 2005 12:24 PM

"Maroulis obviously has some talent"..Rachel

That's an understatement, Rachel. They guy oozes talent. And drop the "Maroulis." He's going to be a one-name, first-name-only-star: Constantine.
ABC knows it when they see it. I don't watch sitcoms but I will be recording everyone of Constantine's shows. Singing on the show better be part of his deal with ABC. Constantine's rise to stardom is unstoppable. His train has left the station. Jump on board, Rachel, guaranteed you'll enjoy the ride.

-- Posted by: choochoo at October 2, 2005 2:31 PM

I personally beleive that every person has the right to voice thier opinion, however I DO have a problem with it if the motive is just plain hatefulness. Did noone's mother ever tell them "If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all"? Maybe I'm the only one. Personally, I am overjoyed that Constantine has been able to realize his dream, and I don't think that any of us need to be putting him down for doing so. Should we all call each other names when we get a better job? Does that make us seem more grown up?? I don't think so. If some of you aren't Constantine fans, fine, but calling each other cultists, or losers or "big butt", or even saying that others should have been aborted because they have different musical tastes?? That's just plain childish. Remember all, MUSIC=FREEDOM. In ALL aspects- opinion, respect, emotions, everything. Can we agree to disagree? I don't feel that forcing anyone to beleive what I beleive will solve anything. Can't we all just get along?

-- Posted by: April Jaded at October 2, 2005 8:23 PM

Constantine MAROULES does not deserve to have one name yet. He is a loser. He's not a tv star or a recording star. Nobody knows or cares who he is. He is a smoker and has destroyed his voice beyond all comprehension.

Oh really, Amanda? I guess you didn't see Friday's Tonight show with Jay Leno, because Constanine (one name--that's how he was introduced)knocked it out of the park with a brilliant rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody, one of the most challenging rock pieces ever written. Are you some bitter ex-whatever of his?

-- Posted by: shirley mulvaine at October 2, 2005 11:07 PM

No I did not see the Tonight Show on Friday. Since it was FRIDAY, I was out with friends. And I assume that not many other people saw(other than you Constantinople fanatics) the Tonight Show on a Friday because they were all out partying and living their lives. I suspect only old ladies, housewives, and those young children who had to ask their mommies and daddies for permission to stay up late. I hope he did not butcher Bohemian Rhapsody too badly. We wouldn't want Freddy Mercury rolling in his grave.

-- Posted by: Amanda at October 2, 2005 11:48 PM

Dear Mrs/Miss Cericola:

Please do not fret. As Constantine Maroulis cult fanatics are loud, angry, and bitter that this off key crooner did not win American Idol. He was better than William Hung, but you know that's not saying much.

constantine did a pretty good job of a shortened version of the queen song - and freddy did not roll in his grave...He would not have been picked by Queen for the tribute album if so. He also performs well in concert.
I have to say he is a talented guy, I am sure we will be hearing more from him.
I am a working mom, but did not stay up late to watch the tonight show...but gee how did I see it? I have a TIVO. Also Paul Walker was on there as well another Hot man see you can still have a life if you have the technology, even a VCR would work....

Ex-‘Idol‘ Maroulis signs ABC sitcom deal
Staff and agencies
03 October, 2005

By Kimberly Speight 16 minutes ago

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Former "American Idol" contestant Constantine Maroulis is ready to return to television, this time in a sitcom that‘s being developed for him by ABC and Kelsey Grammer ‘s production company.

The project is in the very early stages of development, with the details still being hammered out and no writer yet attached, said Steve Stark, president of Grammer‘s Grammnet Prods. banner.

Grammnet brought Maroulis to ABC, which then signed a talent holding deal with him, said Stark, who called Maroulis a "showman" with a "bigger-than-life personality" who stood apart from the rest of the "Idol" Season 4 contestants.

"We saw something in him that was very unique, as did ABC," Stark said. "Collectively, we are trying to figure out the best way to showcase him in a half-hour series."

Maroulis‘ pact with ABC also gives the network the option of casting him in another project, comedy or drama.

Stark also noted that Maroulis has a background in theater, having trained at the Boston Conservatory.

Maroulis came in sixth place during the most recent season of Fox‘s singing competition "Idol."

Miss Cericola, Ketelynn, Peyton, Amanda and Jack Smith:

You must be in terrible pain. Why else you call somebody you don't know: Very, very fat, untalented, he can't sing, he lost his voice because he smokes etc.
If you really, truly believe all these things, why bother with him? Is the purpose to change our minds? To tell people like me, older, professional and a proud mother of 3 kids, that I can't tell a talent when I see it? And all of you can?
A reaction like that is expected by all of you, but not from Ms Cericola.
A professional writer, like Ms Cericola, should stick to facts. This is not a fiction story. You are talking about an artist's capabilities. I am willing to listen to you, if you can back up your remarks, with some facts. It is very unprofessional, to write articles like the above.
Shame to all of you. If he is not your cup of tea, please don't watch him.
But if you do, and I know you do, did you ask yourselves why?
I bet, that you see, the same things we do. Tons of talent. I am willing to bet that the fact he is so good and talented scares the hell out of you.
I suggest in the future, keep your nasty opinion to yourselves. After all, you can't affect ours and you do sound like idiots.

-- Posted by: Georgia at October 3, 2005 12:15 PM

No joke: We haven't seen the last of American Idol's Constantine Maroulis. The former contestant tells People that he's signed a deal to star in a sitcom for ABC. He also talks about meeting Quentin Tarantino, who apparently rooted for him to win. "(He) kept saying I was going to be a big star. He was like, 'You sucked in the last song, but that's OK. You sang it great the night you went home.'"

Rachel Cericola,

You may want to take a minute to do a search on Quentin Tarantino. I doubt you will ever be recognized for any abilities to recognize REAL talent, but thankfully there are those out there that do.

Dear, dear miserable Rachel. It's clear that you hate the world. Why don't you want the rest of us to smile?
Let me guess, you were the girl in HS who hated the cheerleaders, homecoming king and queen & football captain. You are the girl who tells the world that she would never watch the Miss America or USA pageants, but do and say each girl is ugly. You are the girl who goes on and on about how Constanine fans need to get a life, but you're the one posting passionately about him.
You don't like John Travolta, either, do you dear?
Poor, pathetic, miserable Rachel.
Cheers to ABC. You are giving us a reason to smile every week, and giving poor, pathetic, miserable Rachel, a reason to bitch.

CUZ WE WOULD HAVE TO KICK SOME @*#

WE LOVE YOU CONSTANTINE!

-- Posted by: Joeylea at October 3, 2005 3:32 PM

Its obvious to me that this writer is just jealous or doesnt have a clue about talent.
But consider the source, someone who has nothing better to do than to bash other people.
Frankly, what you say or think doesnt mean jack to me.
Congratulations Constantine you are going to be great!!!!

-- Posted by: Jacque at October 3, 2005 3:47 PM

Sounds like they give writing jobs out like Cracker Jacks...

-- Posted by: Cecily at October 3, 2005 3:49 PM

RACHEL

APPARENTLY YOU WOULDN'T KNOW TALENT IF IT SLAPPED YOU IN THE FACE. MAYBE WE SHOULD SLAP YOU. CONSTANTINE IS THE MOST TALENTED PERSON THAT AMERICAN IDOL HAS EVER SEEN. I BELEIVE THE WINNER WAS A SET-UP. BECAUSE CONSTANTINE SHOULD OF WON. LUCKILY FOR HIM, HE DIDN'T. LIKE HE HAS SAID, HE ISN'T CURSEW WITH THAT STIGMA OF BEING THE AMERICAN IDOL. HE IS FREE TO DO WHAT HE WANTS. AND BELEIVE ME, HE WILL GO VERY FAR IN THIS BUSINESS, EITHER AS A SINGER OR ACTOR OR BOTH. I WILL CONTINUE TO FOLLOW HIM IN HIS CAREER.
CONSTANTINE, ALL YOUR BETTY'S LOVE YOU.

Oh poor baby Rachel Cericola - did he turn you down for a date ?????? - Better luck next time !

-- Posted by: Meshelle at October 3, 2005 4:07 PM

Are you a crazy person or what?? Constantine has more talent in his little finger than most singers around these days not to mention the man can act too!!! You really need some help! He is going to be the next big thing!! Have you not read any of the Reviews on the AI concerts?? He got the most support and the most screaming of any other idol. Sorry had to vent that I guess the Constantine Maroulis fans saying "you either get it or you don't" really rings true here!!

-- Posted by: Cathy at October 3, 2005 4:13 PM

Rachel - I am sorry that ABC, Kelsey Grammar and Constantine's fans are at odds with your opinion. I don't know what he did to you to warrant such a trashing.
BUT HE CERTAINLY HAS TALENT!!!!
At this point, I really must question your credentials to critique Constantine's singing or acting.

-- Posted by: Pat at October 3, 2005 4:21 PM

Rachel,

Constantine has the strength, talent, drive, ambition, passion, intergrity, creativity, and ability to continually grow and better himself.
Im happy for him, and he deserves all the good things that happen to him.

Your comments are just dull, dense, half-witted, senseless, mindless and unintelligent.
I feel sorry for you.
~Dont suffocate on your own hate!~

-- Posted by: dimple at October 3, 2005 4:34 PM

As you can see from all the posts, Constantine has a huge and solid fanbase. And it just keeps on growing.

I have seen Constantine perform live five times since July. Never in my life have I gone to see a performer five times ever; let alone in two months... omg, what this man does to me! His performances are electrifying. He puts so much passion into everything he does. Have loved watching his star rise. He has so much talent and drive.

Rachel, remember the old adage, "If you don't have something nice to say..."

-- Posted by: LoveMyCON at October 3, 2005 4:35 PM

I have TIVO and no I am not going to waste my time watching some boring crap. Unfortunately for Constantine, Kelsey Grammar and ABC both have not had much luck in the sitcom/funnies department. Sure there was Frasier, but his current sitcom on CBS gets lackluster ratings. And his SNL knockoff was a bomb. The sitcoms on ABC also get lackluster ratings. There is also the fact that Constantine still hasn't found his audience. It's funny to me that a bunch of middle age women showed up to a hard rock concert.

-- Posted by: Amanda at October 3, 2005 4:38 PM

I'm a Constantine fan thru and thru, and am actually very excited about the upcoming show.

So then, what is your point exactly Rachel? Simply that because he didn't win the American Idol title that he cannot possible be successful?

You did say yourself that he does have "talent". He is one very diverse individual - he and his band, Pray for the Soul of Betty are extremely talented, he has done theatre, is in the midst of recording a solo album, and now will be starring in a sit-com. He was approached by Queen to sing Bohemian Rhapsody on the tribute album, Killer Queen....were any other American Idol finalists presented with that honour? That in itself is outstanding! Rumor also has it that he had been contacted by Ralph Lauren for some modeling as well.

Shame on you for pre-judging...at least wait until the show begins. Kelsey Grammer ain't no "Joe Blow". He must know what he's doing.

-- Posted by: Gianna at October 3, 2005 4:39 PM

If Constantine has such a big fanbase, why don't they do anything but sit around and write nasty letters to other people? Why don't they go out and buy his cds or go to his concerts? Just because he sold out a 300 seat venue, that makes him sooo popular? I don't think so. Wayne Newton sells out 300 seat venues on a nightly basis.

-- Posted by: Katelynn at October 3, 2005 4:42 PM

Kelsey Grammar made Down Periscope and another SNL knockoff that bombed. Nuff said? No? Then he also has another sitcom right now called "Out of Practice" that is getting lackluster ratings. The only things people watch on ABC is Desperate Housewives, Extreme Makeover, and Lost. There are no good sitcoms on ABC.

-- Posted by: Amanda at October 3, 2005 4:45 PM

You guys better all go out and buy Neilson boxes to make the ratings look good.

-- Posted by: Katelynn at October 3, 2005 4:48 PM

You probably don't know who you're talking to do you? Connie's girlfriend.. #41 that is... hehe, inside joke! Anyway, I'm happy for him and I can't wait! Hell he is doing better than Fantasia Barrino and Ruben Studdard who won Seasons 2 and 3. And obviously he's doing something right, or else you wouldn't be talking all this smack about him. In fact if he weren't doing something right then you wouldn't be talking about him at all! And with reading this I say, "More power to you Connie! Show em what you're made of!" I love Constantine!!!!

-- Posted by: pujolsLVR at October 3, 2005 4:51 PM

Obviously, you would not know talent if it reached up and bit you on the face! When Constantine accepts his awards for not only the TV show, solo and Pray for the Soul of Betty album, you will not find your name in the liner notes or thank you speeches. Of course, critics are somewhat to be pitied...what is the old adage? For those who can not do...

Constantine has alot more good press than bad and your pithy comments will not hurt him in the least. Sure he has a fan base and an audience..one that I am glad does not include you.

-- Posted by: Tracy at October 3, 2005 4:51 PM

One more thing...

Rachel dear, you must have written this "so called" piece of writing for a reason. It can't possibly be because there was nothing else to write about. My conclusion...this man - yes, Constantine Maroulis, intrigued you enough to write about him. Whether it's good or bad that you wrote, the fact is, YOU WROTE ABOUT HIM. If you disliked him that much, you would not have wasted your time with this. Nobody twisted your arm.

Next time, put a sock in it!

-- Posted by: Gianna at October 3, 2005 4:54 PM

This was a very mean-spirited article. I don't know who you are, and from this arcticle-don't want to know you...

Constantine has a huge fanbase and we all think he is a very talented man. He is electric in his performances. Once you see him live, you will be a fan forever.

He is also a very NICE person and doesn't deserve to be treated in this fashion...He deserves an apology, Whatever your name was.....at the very least, people know him by his first name. He is destined for 'great things'

-- Posted by: earthmother at October 3, 2005 4:55 PM

If talent came over, introduced itself, and then slapped you,I think you still wouldn't reconize it! Normally, I'm not for negative comments, but why do you feel the need to completly last out on both Con and Kelsey Grammar? I honestly don't think either of them did anything to offend you. So, quoting pujolsLVR, "More power to you Connie! Show em what you're made of!", I hope you realize Con has a lot more support than you obviously think.

-- Posted by: bettygirl4lifex3 at October 3, 2005 5:04 PM

I know that everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but to pre-judge is so unfair.

IF the show ends up being a bust (as you are already convinced it will be), then go ahead, by all means write a negative review.

*wonders if Rachel is an bitter ex-girlfriend of C's*

-- Posted by: Gianna at October 3, 2005 5:07 PM

I find it very sad that people like Rachel have nothing better to do with their time than down talk others. You're obviously unhappy with yourself if you have to stoop that low. Constantine is an incredibly multi-talented man and has everything going for him, and you obviously are jealous of that and can't handle it. I feel bad for you Rachel.

I LOVE CONSTANTINE!!! WOO!!!!

-- Posted by: Lauren17LL at October 3, 2005 5:10 PM

Constantine is doing better than Fantasia and Ruben? You guys are all delusional nitwits. I don't see Constantine with a hit record or grammy nominations. All I see is Constantine with no record sales and a potential for a tv show. He hasn't made it yet. He's still a loser. I'm beginning to wonder if you people are working for him. How much is he paying you to sleep with him? Ha ha!

-- Posted by: Beth at October 3, 2005 5:13 PM

Rachel,

Pretty clever...you managed to get all these people to read your article. You obviously knew your venomous words would bring all these fans out of the woodwork.

I never even heard of TV Fodder until you "dissed" Constantine...pretty smart...you knew what would bring the readers in.

I find Constantine very interesting and I will watch his show. But some of you that don't like him may just tune in to watch out of curiosity...you know, like people who say they are disgusted by something, but just can't look away.

Hey,maybe you could help me out and write an article about somebody I can't stand. Please Rachel "diss" Fitty Cent for me...please,please, please. He is the most over rated and overpaid performer on the planet. The man has a solid gold bedroom for God's sakes.

Spit a little of your venom on someone like that.

-- Posted by: Kathy Miller at October 3, 2005 5:14 PM

Isn't it sad, Beth, that these silly people think that Constantine is a big successful star? Only in their dreams. He hasn't had much success at all and he sure doesn't have enough to go by one name yet. Well he sure has a big head.

-- Posted by: Amanda at October 3, 2005 5:14 PM

Rachel Cericola knows what she's talking about. She dissed Constantine because he's a loser and he has no audience. What do Fantasia, Ruben Stutterd, and 50 Cent have in common? They all have Grammy nods and they all sold more cds than old Connie boy combined. If he has a tv show, he better be a better actor than singer. Because Connie boy couldn't carry a tune.

-- Posted by: Katelynn at October 3, 2005 5:17 PM

Constantine has talent and will succeed in this business. Enough said.

-- Posted by: Amanda at October 3, 2005 5:29 PM

My Dearest Rachel,
It is clear to me that you are a hater. Why would you be so negative and down right ugly. Did Constantine do anything to you personally? I am sure not, he is a GREAT actor, performer, and musician. If you don't FU#*ing care for him, then you don't have to watch him. Find something else to do like critize other people, which is something you have a talent for, unlike writing. Constantine DO YOUR THANG BABY, WE LOVE YOU ALWAYS.........

-- Posted by: dodie aka betty bitch at October 3, 2005 5:30 PM

It's not as if he's 18 years old....he is a very mature, 30 year old man. Extremely confident (as he should be).

NOTE: HUGE difference between being confident and being 'cocky'.

-- Posted by: Joeylea at October 3, 2005 5:33 PM

This is your opinion, Rachel, and I will respect that. However, it was a bit harsh of you to write something like that. Perhaps Constantine will prove to you that he's better than you may think. In the meantime, it would be greatly appreciated if you would respect his fans, and not publish such cruel words.

Uh Rachel dear - how old are you?, just curious. And what demographic are you in? - just curious.

You must be a Bo fan maybe...or are you from down south?

Are you a Clay fan maybe who is a little jealous because his offers have stopped coming in?

How dare you make suggestions like that, when you haven't even seen Constantine act on Broadway. How ignorant are you? Constantine is unique to entertainment, and he is good looking on top of being such a nice guy...and he IS a really nice guy...with a big heart.

I wish him all the luck in the world...

I agree there are very few sitcoms that make it these days, good for him for at least giving it a shot. He is not some amatuer you know. And most of TV today is reality shows....I think the funniest show I've seen since Will and Grace is that new show "Earl" and "Lost" along with "Desperate Housewives".

Why don't you give the guy a chance.....

-- Posted by: MM at October 3, 2005 5:51 PM

This shit is hilarious, yet lame at the same time.. the comments I mean. Really people, if you're going to insult someone when they piss you off do it in a more mature way. As for the article- if this is what passes for writing these days, it's disgusting. Really now, if you are a good writer you do not need to get people worked up for attention.

-- Posted by: Krista at October 3, 2005 6:02 PM

Rachel -

Met him twice. Saw him perform on two other occasions. If you're immune to the electricity of his presence both onstage and off, then you're very different than most other women around you.

Try posting a link to this article on any of his websites, and the comments will come in so fast this site will go down in flames... like your opinions will at some point in the future.

Good luck Constantine. You'll be fine.

-- Posted by: Joeylea at October 3, 2005 6:24 PM

I can't believe this. If you don't like Con, then don't watch or listen. I think the only reason you did this is because you know he has a ton of fans, that he IS very popular, so you knew you'd get tons of feedback, however negative. Con is a very talented man (and sexy), his show is gonna be very popular, and all you Betty babes ROCK!!! Mwah!!

-- Posted by: ducky at October 3, 2005 6:53 PM

Well Rachel,

It nice to see you give a person a chance before you fry him. He hasn't even begun and you shoot him down.

I hope your words spur him on, and he makes you eat them, because there is no excuse for bad manners. None at all. Shame on you.

-- Posted by: Sammie at October 3, 2005 7:23 PM

Rachael,
Constantine is the most talented and exciting performer I have ever seen. What's your claim to fame? Writing bitter stories about those with more talent?

-- Posted by: Deborah at October 3, 2005 7:54 PM

Dear Rachel,

This comment you made: "As far as Kelsey Grammer goes. My guess is that he is back on the coke". I believe it may be actionable. I'm a UK lawyer and American laws are different, so I'm not sure. Therefore, I've forwarded this link and a hard copy of your post to Kelsey Grammer's lawyer to take a look. Good luck, babe.

"And like those Cracker Jack prizes, they ain't what the used to be." You might want to add a "y" to the end of the word "the" in that sentence. Do you do this for a living?

Ok, here's what a REAL article looks like!!

And soon to hear more no doubt. Thankfully whoever this is doesn't rule the world. And probably won't anytime soon.

p.s. Hi all ya'll Bettys and GGG's and Connies!

-- Posted by: Mickie at October 3, 2005 9:15 PM

Ok Rachel Ill play. I love how at the end of every one of your posts you say "Thanks for reading!" That makes it seem like your a desperate, failing writer posting articles on a crap website that Ive never even heard of before this. Apparently all your doing is fishing for attention and it seems to be working, in the wrong way it seems. Im not insulting you, because you do seem to be a good writer who knows how to get a rise out of their readers, I just dont feel that you have done this in a respectable manner.

I respect the opinions of everyone here, even those who are not fans of Constantine, but there are better ways of stating a negative opinion apart from insulting and degrading the integrity of people that you dont even know. I know several people, who I regard as friends, who have been lucky enough to meet Constantine and they will tell you he is a sweet, respectable, down to earth average guy, not at all the creepy freak you all make him out to be.

Dont bash this show too early. Kelsey Grammar may have had some lackluster ratings with other shows but when he manages to get a hit people do not forget it. "Fraiser" was one of the longest running sitcoms on television so dont mark Kelsey down and out just yet. Many shows on several TV stations do not do so well but many do, so give it a chance. And like many have said so far, if you dont like something you do not have to watch it, and just because some people do like it doesnt make them any less intellegent.

Constantine seems to have fans of all ages: from kids as young as 8 to adults as old as 80 and every age in between. I am a 21 year old female from the Tennessee/Alabama line, who just happens to like Bo Bice and Clay Aiken as well ;) Most Constantine fans are also fans of his band, Pray for the Soul of Betty, and fans of the band are just as loyal as you are getting a taste of here in your article.

I wish you luck to your writing career, but in the future, take to mind an unwritten rule that we follow on the "Betty Boards"..."If what you post can potentially offend or disgust anyone in regard to race, sex, religion, personal beliefs, or personal opinions or if your in doubt what you are posting could insult or offend anyone, DO NOT POST. We are all adults and we should know right from wrong and what or what not to post."

-- Posted by: SunnysAngel at October 3, 2005 9:39 PM

Many talented artists had haters, especially at the beginning of their career. The haters mean nothing to a person like Constantine. He has the drive, passion and talent to become a big star. Even if this particular sitcom isn't a big hit, it won't matter in the long run. If Constantine "falls on his butt" with it, he will just pick himself up, move on and learn from it.

-- Posted by: Cathy at October 3, 2005 11:03 PM

I don't know who Constantine Maroulis is, but he must be a huge jerk based on what I am reading. I am sitting here laughing my butt off looking at the collective temper tantrum. How old are all you people? 12? Grow the hell up!

-- Posted by: Jeanane Salisbary at October 4, 2005 1:27 AM

Well, thankfully there are only a few people like you out there that just don't "get him." Everyone is entitled to their own taste and opinion, but anyone who appreciates pure talent, charisma and determination knows that he exudes all of those things, and deserves every ounce of recognition, stardom and opportunity that he gets. 99% of the population who KNOW him, are stoked about his TV sitcom and generally anything he does, because he gives 100% to everything he does, and we love him for it. Sorry you don't get to share the enjoyment because you're too busy being sarcastic, bashing people (maybe because they've got more skill than you?) and just generally being pessimistic. And to that poster that asked if we were all 12 because we're expressing our opinions...I'm actually 25, my Mom is 50 and also is a fan of Con, and since when did supporting an artist and expressing your opinion become childish? Doesn't that make you "12" too for being here??? Uhh....good point there. pfft.

Hey Amanda!
Bite me.
You and Rachel are freaking nerds!

-- Posted by: BostonKitty at October 4, 2005 9:54 AM

I knew that somebody would recognize the celebrity of Constantine. Look at John Travolta! He was just Barbarino, then did a less than mediocre album and sang on american bandstand. So, what did Travolta have? Freaking CHARISMA! Exactly what Constantine has. Those same people that swooned at Barbarino, are still swooning for Travolta...20 something years later.
ABC is brilliant! Constantine will still be arount in 20 something years. There will be posters in nursing homes, as well as dorms. His talent is multi-faceted.
Rachel must have been constipated when she posted her sad Con bash.

-- Posted by: BostonKitty at October 4, 2005 10:00 AM

Rachel, I understand if you are bitter since you threw yourself at Constantine and he shot you down. Were you on the rag when you wrote this spiteful, biased piece of crap? Are we supposed to respect your opinion when you haven't even seen the show yet? Maybe you can get a job as a movie critic who bashes every movie without even seeing any of them.

-- Posted by: Julie at October 4, 2005 10:12 AM

Julie, be nice. Poor, poor Rachel, can't get a date to save her life. Have pity on the poor dear. She's even willing to switch teams, still no luck.
I have an idea!!!! Why don't the generous Constantine fans pitch in and get her a few cats?

-- Posted by: BostonKitty at October 4, 2005 10:23 AM

Jeanane Salisbary - and what a very LARGE butt it is.

-- Posted by: BostonKitty at October 4, 2005 10:31 AM

Guys,

Where's the luv?? So much hate...everyone is entitled to their opinions. I am a fan of Constantine's too and I think Rachel and Amanda have gone a little to far and have become insulting, but I also saw some insulting comments coming from others.

The Killer Queen CD is selling, the Betty CD is selling and all of that without must exposure. Constantine's website has over 5000 guest book entries in less than 4 days. ABC has exclusive rights to put Constantine in any other projects, not just the sitcom. (hope for drama)

I see alot of jealousy and rage. Hell that Jaime Pressly from 'Earl', she's real talented to, she plays a great trailer park backwoods blankety blank...

We don't know what role Constantine will have on the sitcom but he is witty and naturally funny. Jim Carrey he isn't but Bob Saget or John Stamos he could be...

-- Posted by: Sonia at October 4, 2005 12:46 PM

I'm not sure what to say at this point since I see my fellow "Connie" fans pretty much have it covered.

It's nice to know that the "Betty/Con LOVE" is going strong.

And Rachel...since I was raised by the "if you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say it"...........
*we now return to our regularly scheduled program

-- Posted by: Mariea at October 4, 2005 1:12 PM

That is a pretty disappointing article coming by someone who claims to be a writer.I really don't see what purpose it served other than to portray someone in a negative light.

I really don't see anything unusual about Constantine being offered a TV deal.He did spend a good amount of time on broadway, just like many other actors have done.

There are many musicians and actors that I do not personally care for, but I don't feel the need to publicly insult them.

You have the nerve to claim the responses to this article are immature?Well the article itself seems immature to me.

-- Posted by: Tracey at October 4, 2005 1:59 PM

Constantine is the most talented person ever to be on american idol.......dont know what else to say...but Con has enough going for him that I dont think this one stupid article will faze him a bit...so maybe we (the Fans) shouldnt either...If someone doesnt see the Talent he has, then hey, its their loss, as someone said, there were people who thought Elvis and and the Beatles diddnt have talent either....enough said

I understand that you job it to critique things, Ms. Cericola, but, HAVE YOU LOOKED AT THE FANS OF MR. MAROULIS??????? Evidently, with more than 2500 REGISTERED Betty fans and WHO-KNOWS-HOW-MANY other fans, I can safely and easily say that this will be a HUGE success.

Thank you for your time,
Heather

-- Posted by: Heather Ellison at October 4, 2005 3:17 PM

I have a serious question. What is the average age and IQ of you Constantine Maroulis fans? By the looks of it, the average age and IQ both is SIX. Seriously, don't you realize that you are all making huge asses of yourselves? You all sound like weird cultist fanatics. Seriously, you all need to grow up and get a life. Rachel Cericola stated her opinion in an article. Yes, she was a bit snarky, but it was well said. You all act like you never heard of an EDITORIAL before. Maybe it's time to go to school and learn something. Constantine still hasn't made it yet and it's going to take more than 2200 people to make a hit show. If nobody watches it, and it sounds like a flop, then Constantine will be back at sqaure one. He is still a nobody and he won't be respected ever with idiot fans.

-- Posted by: Sally Anne at October 4, 2005 4:04 PM

Oh, Rachel, honey. It's obvious. You want him. You know you do.

-- Posted by: Lilly at October 4, 2005 4:53 PM

The average IQ of Constantine fans? I'd have to say it's probably in the upper ranges - our Betty Family is choc full of doctors, lawyers and other professional people - as well as many mensa members, such as myself.

We have the intelligence to know a good thing when we see it - and we have seen it in Constantine.

Bitterness is such a sad thing...and bashing is extremely shameful.

Some people just need to get a life and stop the negative thoughts - not good for your health!

Peace.

After reading some of the messages on this forum I think that some of the posters have gone way to far in stating their opinion about the author of this editorial. Rachel Is entitled to her opinion just like everyone else. I do not understand why people would resort to verbally assaulting a person in the defense of someone they do not know or may never know personally. Constantine has not become a superstar yet! For many up and coming actors it takes many years of hard work, good management, agency representation, excellent choice of acting parts and many years of experience to excel in the craft of becoming a great actor. Even then there are no guarantees on becoming a superstar or being taken seriously as an actor. From what I understand the show is in it's infancy stage and it's too soon to tell if it will be successful or not.

You know what?

I don't care what Rachel says and I bet ABC doesn't either. All I know is that I will watch. You could put Constantine on for 30 mins a week just reading a book - or sleeping - and I would watch...cuz the man is just that sexy. And the thought of him teaming up with the brilliant writers that work with Kelsey Grammer - wow that is some serious potential...

I vote for Constantine as the the new thinking woman's sex god....

and btw, I am college educated, professional, 40's - no desperate housewife - and I love Constantine!!

Sorry Rachel, you missed the boat on that one - but you'll see...Mr. Maroulis gonna get you yet!

Seriously, some of you are doctors? I wouldn't go to you as a doctor. You need your heads examined. You must be horrible doctors. If you really are as intelligent and and professional as you say you are, then why don't you act your age and sound intelligent. Telling somebody they have a big butt and they are jealous is childish and immature. Like the response said above, there is no reason to verbally assault this woman. You all should be ashamed of yourselves for acting like rabid dogs.

Lets see- ages, between 8 and 65, with genius IQ's. I agree, some of the things on here SHOULD NOT have been said, but, look at yourselves. Quote: "You all should be ashamed of yourselves for acting like rabid dogs.". Ummmm, what are you acting like?? A sweet little fairy? Another quote by the same person : " You need your heads examined.". You are saying that is not "mean"? Lets quit ALL bashing of Bettys, Constantine, and others.

Rachel who???

-- Posted by: NHConFan at October 6, 2005 8:47 AM

Writers like you really infuriate me. Why do people like you insist on dogging and putting down people who work their butts off to succeed.
Constantine Maroulis has MEGA talent and it is really sad that writers like you cant recognize that. He has struggled and worked hard every step of the way to get to the point he is at now. He deserves it more than anyone I have ever seen. Constantine deserves all of the fame he has now and then some!!
Are you willing to work that hard and struggle every step of the way to take chances like he has? Are you willing to take the criticism and face the public the way he has? No - I dont think so. Writers like you tend to hide behind their work and just pass meaningless rudeness on to the public to try and make them see things your way. But guess what - that doesnt work!
We have eyes and ears and we recognize talent when we see it. I am not trying to be rude - but people like you really make me angry because you are not fair or honest in your writings and your judgements of others.
All I am asking is that you be more fair in what you print about others - especially when they work as hard as Constantine has and deserve it as much as he does.
Thank you

I would worry less about what some editor has to say about some T.V. show that does not exist and more about this guys inability to sing in tune. Plese stop camparing him to people like Frank Sinatra, Elvis and Jim Morrsion these people are iconic figures who had amazing careers and enormous fan bases.Constantine does not have it takes to walk in their shoes and he certainly does not have what it takes to make it big in the music business.

"Constantine does not have it takes to walk in their shoes ..."
blah blah blah

Apparently you need to go back to school and stop predicting futures.

Constantine needs to go back to school because his writing skills are very poor. His posts always contain grammatical and spelling errors.
