ABC Contracts "Child's Play" Creator

chucky.jpgIf you gave me a list of writers, directors and producers and asked me to pick one to develop something for TV, the guy that created "Child's Play" would probably be at the bottom, wedged between the guy that did "Problem Child" and the guy who gave the greenlight to "Home Alone 3."

Then again, I don't work for ABC, who has contracted writer/director/producer Don Mancini for the thriller "Kill Switch." According to the Hollywood Reporter, the show follows a woman sentenced to death for murder, only to find herself in purgatory where each week, she becomes the victim -- and has to solve the potential murder before it's too late. Sounds kind of interesting, and it doesn't even involve puppets.

It also doesn't hurt that the executive producer is "Desperate Housewives" creator Marc Cherry.

The great Mancini is currently writing the pilot and will also executive produce. -- Rachel Cericola
