VH1 Sweet On "Celebrity Pop Superstar"

Where do celebrities go when they can't dance? Shunned from the lineup of "Dancing with the Stars," B- and C-listers can turn to VH1 for a shot at pop-stardom. Zap2it is reporting that the cable music channel just picked up "Celebrity Pop Superstar."

The eight yet-to-be-named contestants won't be known for their singing abilities. Judging by VH1's "Celebreality" programming to date, they might not be known for anything else, either.

Each week, they will work with trainers, while vying for camera time and a shot at becoming a popstar icon. Expect the format to follow "American Idol," with solos, duets and group performances in front of a live studio audience.

VH1 promises "surprises." Get an A-lister to cooperate and I will be flabbergasted. "Celebrity Pop Superstar" is brought to you by the same geniuses that coined "Nanny 911" and "Celebrity Fit Club." It premieres this fall on VH1. -- Rachel Cericola
