Showtime Restyles Barbershop

Ice Cube may not be in the house, but the characters remain the same for "Barbershop: The Series," premiering this month on Showtime. "USA Today" is reporting that Omar Gooding (Cuba Jr.'s brother) will fill Cube's shoes as shop owner Calvin.

The creators say to expect more character development, and even more characters. They're also boasting that the show plans to push the envelope a bit more than the movies did -- and they did plenty if you remember all of the (sometimes negative) publicity. With the first episode titled "This Is My Bullshit... And You're Welcome To It," we're not doubting their intentions.

"Barbershop" premieres Sunday, August 14 at 10:00 p.m. (EST) on Showtime. -- Rachel Cericola
