Oxygen Takes a Fat Chance

Monique.jpgThick skin is definitely in -- and it's coming into your home this weekend.

NPR is reporting that comedian Mo'Nique is kicking off "Fat Chance," the first plus-size beauty pageant. The show follows 10 big, beautiful women as they compete to become the first Ms. F.A.T. (Fabulous and Thick). The large ladies will participate in a "Beauty Boot Camp," and will ultimately be judged by a panel that includes NBA superstar and big boy Shaquille O'Neal and plus-size supermodel Mia Tyler.

"Fat Chance" premieres this Saturday, August 6 at 8:00 p.m. (EST) on Oxygen. -- Rachel Cericola

Dear Mo'Nique, I beleive you can get this done so I am asking for your assistance with encouraging NIKE to make plus size work out attire for F.A.T. women. I went into sports authority to purchase a work-out outfit and girl they only made up to a size XL that was really a size 12 or so. I emailed Nike and they state they are working on a line for the plus size woman but at this time they do not have any clothing for the F.A.T. woman. What is up with that! The US Surgeon General states that over 65% of Americans are overweight,so why in the world don't they have exercise attire that fits the 1x, 2x, and 3x women. I am hoping that you will care enough to help. Thank you in advance. Linda Dupart

I'm 15 years old, a big supporter of fat acceptance, and an enthusiastic FA; Only I don't get Oxygen! And it'd be kinda weird if I asked my parents about getting it... Anyway, this sounds fantastic! I wish I could see it! You go :D

MoNique is the most open minded person on earth and thank God for that. I feel if there was never a show like this we as in big beautiful women would have never became aware of our self confadience.

Hello Ms. Monique, I understand that on thursday 4/19/2007 you will in chicago looking for contestants for your F.A.T competition. I wanted to know what is needed to be done to get in the competition. I know first of all I have to be F.A.T but what's next?

I would love to know where you purchase your dresses at for special occasions? I can not find anything that I like on a rack because I am only 5ft and 5inches and I am a 44ddd size 22 so all dresses fit me real funny I have to go get things made and it gets very expensive.
