Miss America Moves On

america.jpgIn one of the many moves that's making the Miss American pageant more interesting, Excite TV says the Miss America Pageant might be looking for a new home. After all, it's hard for a girl to keep up in this reality-TV-saturated world -- especially when she's not so scantily clad.

The competition has called Atlantic City, N.J., its home for 84 years, and speaking as someone that has recently been to AC, they can't get much more interesting than that place. If they want to compete with today's more outrageous reality programming, try hosting the show live from the city's creepy boardwalk -- everyone will love a nice fried dough treat right around the swimsuit portion of the program.

However, it's not really about a change of scenery. High production costs and a decreasing audience have forced this institution to find shelter elsewhere.

Today, word from the Miss America Organization (MAO) came in that they have, in fact, received permission from the Atlantic City Convention Center & Visitors Authority to take the show on the road. "The ACCVA, in releasing Miss America from its current contract, is helping to ensure the pageant's continued vitality and growth," says Art McMaster, President & CEO, MAO.

Apparently, it's not every little girl's dream anymore -- well, except for this little girl. Last year, the pageant lost its contract with ABC after many years on air there. No word on where the pageant will end up broadcasting from, but next year's telecast can be found on CMT in January 2006. -- Rachel Cericola
