Balthazar Getty Joins Alias

BalthazarGetty.jpgSo we understood why they were bringing in more hot chicks. After all, you need some eye candy to cover up Jennifer Garner's pregnancy. Now is reporting that Balthazar Getty is also joining the cast of "Alias" for the upcoming season.

First they added Rachel Nichols, then Elodie Bouchez and now this new announcement. Will this third time make for a charming season? It doesn't smell like a success to me. Is JJ Abrams trying to recreate the same magical ensemble from "Lost?"

Getty will play Thomas Grace, new agent and stud-muffin. Will he possibly replace the beautiful face of Garner's real-life ex Michael Vartan? When the last season ended, Vartan's Vaughn made a shocking revelation right before he and Garner's Sydney got into a car crash.

It's a nice leap for the actor, who recently starred in the TV adaptation of the movie "Traffic" as well as the movie "Ladder 49." According to, Getty was signed up to star in the upcoming CBS drama "Ghost Whisperer." Guess he got a better deal with ABC.

The fifth season of "Alias" will premiere on ABC in its new timeslot on Thursday, September 29 at 8:00 p.m. (EST) For more "Alias" news, visit TV Fodder's Alias News section. -- Rachel Cericola

He was never going to star in Ghost Whisperer. He was a guest star on the pilot playing the son of Wentworth Miller's (the ghost the first episode is about).

Good to know! He's good, but I just can't stop looking at him as Ralph in "Lord of the Flies."

True, though I also can't stop looking at him as Charle Sheen's long lost twin brother.:-)
