Race Drama Crash Reworked for TV

The Hollywood Reporter says this summer's sleeper hit "Crash" is being developed into a TV series for FX.

The drama, which follows a string of race-related stories, was originally developed as a TV series by "Crash" writer/director Paul Haggis, but early reaction from TV networks was tepid. Haggis eventually teamed with writer Bobby Moresco to rework the project into a feature film.

In eight weeks of limited theatrical release, "Crash" has made nearly $50 million. The film's surprising box office has significantly improved the story's small-screen viability and it's given Haggis the ability to shout "how you like me now!" at Hollywood parties without fear of reprisal.

The Reporter says many of the film's stars -- including Don Cheadle, Sandra Bullock, Matt Dillon, Brendan Fraser and Ludacris -- will likely reprise their roles to some degree if the series comes to fruition. -- Mac Slocum
