American Idol: Bon Jovi Night

blewis.jpgJ Lo was a mentor, Gwen Stefani was a mentor, hell -- even Tony Bennett was a mentor. We were never subjected to each artist's entire catalog. Not so with Bon Jovi. Apparently, he is bigger than Bennett.

Celebrating the music of Bon Jovi? This might be a tough call, but the show didn't just jump the shark -- it jumped "Jaws." Here are the highlights...

Phil Stacey
Phil chose "Blaze of Glory," which conjures images of a pre-Jack Bauer Kiefer Sutherland and Lou Diamond Philips. Those images might have been wiped clean by Phil's incredibly sweaty head. He was extra shiny tonight. He had me with the first few notes, but just sort of lost me at the chorus. It was a bit hammy, but in all fairness to Phil, it could have been the song. Paula claims his performance to be the best opening of the season. Very thoughtful of Paula to let us know right off the bat that she's drunk.

Jordin Sparks
Talk about making everyone feel old... Jordin's MOM grew up on Bon Jovi. To complete the part, Jordin was rockin' some Jersey girl hair tonight. Unfortunately, she was not rockin' the Jersey voice. This was my least favorite Jordin performance. Maybe she is not the supergirl I was hoping for, but I am going to let it slide since it's Bon Jovi.

LaKisha Jones
LaKisha had previously seen Bon Jovi on Oprah. How thrilled he must have been. LaKisha was smart with her selection, picking "This Ain't a Love Song." Her voice handled it very well, but I thought the song itself was just kind of cheesy. She did move Simon to a borderline makeout session, so it couldn't have been all bad. I am not a big Bon Jovi fan, but I do think they manage to make their songs work well. It doesn't mean others can work the same magic.

Blake Lewis
Supposedly Blake was risking it all with his interpretation of "You Give Love a Bad Name." I think his hair was far more of a risk tonight. I wasn't digging that or the heavy eye makeup. The song, however, was actually very cool because it managed to display his vocal talent and still allowed him to bust a move with the beatbox stuff that you know everyone has been waiting to hear again. It was, without a doubt, the best performance of the night.

Chris Richardson
Do you think Chris appreciated the blatant comparison to Justin Timberlake? I don't... and don't blame him. The comparison actually is not helping him at all -- he doesn't have the voice, the moves or the personality that JT has. Can Chris pull off "Dick in a Box?" I don't think so. However, when it came to "Wanted: Dead or Alive," he did a decent job. If he threw any more of himself into that song, I think his lunch would have come up. You have to give him props for that.

Melinda Doolittle
Seriously... is there any style of music that Melinda can't handle? She was so timid with Bon Jovi, but she kicked some major ass on stage -- as usual. If it wasn't for Blake busting a move, she would have been my favorite for the night. It was close though because I just love seeing Melinda cut loose. No matter what style she's singing, she appears to be a totally different person on stage... and I like that person.

Now that it's getting down to the wire, it's getting tougher to figure out who will get their walking papers. I was thinking that Jordin would take the whole competition. Now I am just hoping that Bon Jovi won't be her swansong. However, DialIdol.com has both Chris and LaKisha in jeopardy. See you tomorrow. -- Rachel Cericola

Lakisha finally regained her confidence. Half way through her performace you could see and hear her voice kick in. She found what she lost finally.

The shock was the kiss Simon requested and received. Amazing.

Just questioning if eBay enables you to market concert tickets on the net? Do you know if you'll find any restrictions based on what country you are in?

My parents have just referred to as me and asked if i could "get rid" of their two tickets to a concert as they wont be able to make it due to an additional family event.

Apart from asking close friends etc, i thought ebay would be an excellent location to sell them.

But whats ebay's policy on marketing tickets? Ive heard alot about it around the news but ive forgotten what happened.

and if it matters, the concert is within this coming month

Thanks in advance for the advice.
