American Idol Fodder

Pickler Pens a Deal

pickler.jpgKellie Pickler may have been known as a dumb blonde on last season's "American Idol," but she has apparently made a very smart move in signing a record label.

Billboard.com says that the deal is with country label BNA Records and Simon Fuller's 19 Recordings. A single is scheduled for release in September, with an album due by November 14.

While I understand her appeal, I have to ask: What does the future hold for Elliot? Anyone?

Pickler is currently touring with the American Idols Live lineup. Her version of Patsy Cline's "Walkin' After Midnight" can be heard on the "AI" compilation CD. -- Rachel Cericola

I am pleased that Kellie Pickler recently got a record deal for a Nashville record label. She was okay in the competition, but this will give her enough time to better her singing and performance between now and her November release. She seems to fit well with the country themes that Toby Keith, Alan Jackson and others sing about, mostly rural down home themes and nothing too commercial such as that slick Byron Gallimore/Dann Huff music for artists. Hope she can obtain the kind of success that Carrie Underwood is enjoying now.
And as for Elliott Yamin, he needs to get a record deal too! Paris Bennett also--all that talent they've got, they need to go for it while they're still in the public eye! The audiences tend to be fickle and move on to another artist.
