American Idol: Chris Has Left the Building

cdaughtry.jpgElvis wasn't ready to leave the building, but someone else had to be shown the door tonight.

The show kicked off with a brief recap of the contestants' Graceland visit. I knew Lisa Marie would show up at some point. She didn't look so look good, did she? Priscilla is still a very hot mama though.

The group performance always rubs me the wrong way. It is the pinnacle of cheese. Has anyone seen the live show? I picture a lot of numbers like tonight's medley. It seemed extra long this time, but I stuck it out -- mainly because I feared that Taylor could fall off stage at any given moment.

Rebecca Romijn making a request for Taylor to sing was just weird. It seemed as natural as Seacrest slipping in her plug for the next "X-Men" movie. For a second, I thought maybe he was the one going home.

Of course not. This guy has yet to be in the bottom. Katherine and Chris were the ones facing the chopping block. And boy -- Katherine looked very pissed. Not sure why, since she got to stay and Chris was the one that went home. Chris looked shocked and as though he was going to puke. You weren't the only one brother.

Don't worry though. I'm sure that 20 bands are scurrying to get Chris' number. Everyone needs a good frontman and this guy has some serious dollar signs in his future. -- Rachel Cericola

Can't believe Chris is out! My phone is till ringing off the hook. I was so looking forward to the finale with Chris and Taylor. Then let the best man win. Can't believe the public let Katherine stay after her performance last night. Public also got on Elliott's bandwagon and bumped him up to the top two. Who would have thought
that it would come to this??

Don't be surprised if Elliott Yamin wins the American Idol contest in an upset!

Get over it folks

The majority vote wins. I have been shocked myself over people getting voted off but I keep in my mind the people THAT VOTE are the ones that deceide. So all you people out there screaming " I hate you american Idol " bla bla bla ... Need to get real man. Ya man... Who cares if you watch it or not. LOL THEY DONT CARE. If you dont vote.... then shut up and quit acting like that. If you do vote and it didnt go your way ... then quit being a freakin cry baby...

Didn't see this one coming. This is a Tamyra-esque shocker.

But Rach, you're right: Chris will be just fine. He's made his mark and I'm sure he's going to land a sweet deal. Besides, he deserves to front a band. I know I'll be in line to buy the album.

All my coworkers said they thought about me last night when chris got kicked off. I cried...and I'm not afraid to admit it!

Objectively, Katherine's crapshoot performances should've given her the boot as much as Kellie's caused her elimination. It would've been more justified that way. However, I think the Elvis fans were keeping a close eye on Tuesday night's proceedings and Chris didn't do the King justice. All this modernizing of classic songs with Creed-style vocals and serial-killer-glances is just an abomination.

Chris has extreme power and a commanding presence, but his style of music is annoying and uninspired. He has been coasting for weeks...his voice has been straining itself too much and his song choices were egregious. Of all the quality Queen songs to pick, even ones that would suit him remarkably, he picks "Innuendo"? What a shame.

Nonetheless, he was a great contestant and I wouldn't have minded him winning, if it was down to Katharine and he. It would've made up for Bo Bice, or even Constantine Maroulis, last year, but Chris is in a different league than them.

Still, Chris doesn't even need AI, he has Fuel, who have been waiting from the beginning for him to get booted so he can be their new frontman. So, good for him. I just hope he puts-out songs he actually believes in.

My above comment might've seemed a little harsh, but I didn't understand how many people were raving about him being the clear favorite, when there was plenty of evidence to the contrary.

Meanwhile, I never saw him as the sole frontrunner--I've always felt Taylor had it in the bag, or at least had a wild card shot. He's never been in the bottom two OR three; he's wacky, wild, and fun; he'd be the most unique Idol winner EVER, much less the quirkiest contestant they've ever had; and it would just be so thrilling to watch him win. I would also enjoy watching Elliott take the cake, because he deserves it...I'm so glad he's hung around long past his near-goner days. He'd be a great dark horse upset. And Katherine, she IS talented too, but like Chris, there's something about her that rubs me the wrong way from time to time, as it was with him. They both seem a lot cockier and too into themselves to please everyone, should they prove victorious.

Well, anyways, my theory is this: Elliott's stock has risen MAJORLY after the booting of Paris. Since they're both jazz-influenced (though Elliott more on the crooner side of things =D), they both have a similar fan base. Once Paris found herself eliminated, as sad as THAT was, I think whatever fans left of hers that didn't block the FOX channel from their TV decided to send their love to Elliott, giving him a much-need boost. So he may have been hovering down in the bottom two or three from time to time, but it seems now he has a little help from Paris's friends. Of course, I also know many people who, after her boot, decided they want Taylor to win instead. So perhaps he's getting extra love--though his fan base was enormous from the beginning, and devoted too, not to mention constantly expanding. Kat's has been waning a bit, but is still there. I do think her more-frequent appearances in the bottom tier don't bode well for her...she might be next to go, but I'm not sure. Either way, it sure seems like she needs to kick it in gear or say good-bye.

All I know is that Taylor Hicks is awesome. And I'm keeping the hope that this eccentric blend of everything will give the music world a much-needed revival. SOUL PATROL!

katharine should have been booted out instead of chris. im here in the philippines and we are deeply shocked by the results. i dont undermine america's taste for music but she's definitely way down than chris. damn! AI is a singing contest, not a beauty pageant. garrrrrrr!!!

i hope she gets kicked out this time. please let it be elliot vs. taylor in the finale. please, please!!!
