American Idol Fodder

Prince Pooh-Poohs "American Idol"

prince.jpgIn a not-so-shocking announcement, IMDB.com says that the chances of Prince appearing on "American Idol" are slim to none.

The pop star refused to meet with the show's contestants. I guess he doesn't fancy himself a mentor. Nice attitude.

Prince's record company had recommended that the singer make an appearance on the show to push his latest release, "3121." Aside from knowing that this week's theme will be the music of Queen, there is no word on what other stars are set to appear. -- Rachel Cericola

I thought he might actually go ahead and do it. It's not a big surprise, but I wonder why he didn't want to help the contestants?

Maybe they can get Barry Manilow back if they need someone to fill in. Barry gave some really good advice to the contestants.

Honestly, George... I have liked some of Prince's music over the years. However, he doesn't seem like the nicest guy. Seems totally self-absorbed. I think he thinks it's a waste of his time and it's beneath him.

After all, when the rumor first leaked, he said he didn't want to do it because he didn't like the show, even though he had never seen it --- what a bizarre thing to say.

When I initially heard Prince was going to be on AI, I was very surprised and really looking forward to it. I've liked Prince and his music from his early days. I thought seeing the contestants trying to sing Prince's songs would give them a good opportunity to try something awesome. But, sadly enough I guess the purple one has changed his mind. Prince has never been one to do stuff just because everyone else does it. He has to be in control. So I guess this shouldn't be any different. He's such the ultimate performer and perfectionist. His final old school concert was the best I've seen since the Purple Rain tour back in the 80s. He would have brought so much to AI. I hope he can reconsider. :o(

Prince, is a talent and I will never forget flying with Prince to open his Purple rain Tour at the Joe louis arena. It was the best concert I have ever been to.

I too would have liked to see Prince to have been on the show, much better then the other boring guests....
