American Idol: No More Mandisa

mandisa.jpgTonight was almost as weird as last night. First of all, did Bucky actually get a bad haircut and we are not privy to a peek? That cowboy hat seems to be a permanent fixture on his head now. Maybe he just wanted to look good for Kenny Rogers. Bad move.

Yes, Kenny sang. I wish I could "unthink" that performance. This, my friends, was not The Gambler.

No surprise that Paula looked like she was crying before the bottom three were even announced. How does she do that? Did she have a faucet implanted in her face or something?

Bucky, Ace and Katherine seemed like an obvious bottom three. That's exactly what that sly devil Seacrest wants us to think! Sadly, instead it was Mandisa, Paris and Elliot. Although I never saw any of those three winning the title, they certainly did not deserve to be at the bottom just yet.

It was hard to believe who was at the bottom, so not too shocking that Mandisa got the boot. I just don't get it. On the one hand, we never have to hear the term "Mandiva" ever again. On the other, I do see the Jennifer Hudson syndrome possibly repeating itself -- and she doesn't seem to be too hurtin' in her career these days.

Sadness aside -- my husband may have cracked the Elliot case. Watching him up on that stage tonight, we have decided that he hasn't really been made over, but his facial hair does appear bushier, giving his face a whole new look. Go Gizzly Adams! -- Rachel Cericola

I just think that Mandisa was one of the three best singers in the competition. I also liked her spirit.

Mandisa should've been in the top 3 easy. So country isn't her strong category. Personally, I think Mandisa has the most talent out of all of them. She just had an okay night for the first time, instead of a brilliant one.

I wasn't able to watch the results show (that "Lost" thing takes up my Wednesday nights), but I cannot BELIEVE Bucky wasn't in the bottom three. What the hell is going on?

Mandisa didn't deserve to go. I'm not her biggest fan, but she's definitely got the pipes and I would have liked to have seen her really light it up.

Mac, I was TRYING to watch 'Lost' but my family has been bitten by the AI bug and I had to miss the first half hour of 'Lost'. Thank you, sweet DVR gods. Thank you. (And I'm going to read the 'Lost' recap anyway, since I only missed the first 30 minutes.)

I was FLOORED that Mandisa was in the Bottom Three - but I wonder if it had anything to do with the publicity she's been getting, accusing her of being 'anti-gay'. A few coworkers feel like that, along with her very obvious religious beliefs, scared some people off. I can see that, I suppose. I don't agree with it, but I can see it. While I didn't think she was good Tuesday night, I did not think she deserved the ax at this point. I was also sad to see Elliot standing with her, but as amazing as his voice is, he's GOT to get some stage presence. My thrill of the evening (besides the whole Henry Gale thing, but I digress) was Paris being in the Bottom Three. I firmly believe she needed that wake up call to knock her ass down a peg or two. Good call, America!

Next week, Queen! Oh YEAH. This is gonna be good. Bucky, please sing 'Fat Bottomed Girls' and give me one of the AI highlights of my life. LOL!!

In my opinion, at this stage there are a few really bad singers ie Bucky. I don't think
the public should be
voting at all. The
majority don't know
talent when they hear
it. They go by looks as far as I can see. The whole thing is such a joke!!!!!
And I wish Paula
and Simon stop acting
like children. So
Most of the
comments Simon says,
I agree with. Paula should respect
his opinion and stop
acting so childish.
She just looks bad.
And the comments by
Seacrest towards Simon also junvenile. In fact this series is the
worst one so far.

As an experienced
audio tech, I find the singers are sometimes
overpowered by the
orchestra. Singer's
mic should be boosted (turned

I agree about the band overpowering the singers sometimes...

And Sher: I fear the wrath of Queen next week. I like them, but I can't imagine who is going to sing what. Will someone bust out "We Are the Champions?" It's going to be a funky night.

I completely agree about the band, Liz and Rachel. More often than not, they're WAY too loud and overpower the contestants.

Rachel, I sincerely hope no one touches 'We Are The Champions'! I also hope they stay away from 'We Will Rock You' and 'Bohemian Rhapsody'. I'd love to hear 'Radio Ga Ga', 'You're My Best Friend', 'The Show Must Go On', 'Killer Queen'.......Queen's got such a HUGE songbook that I hope these kids go back far in it and find the really great songs.

Oh, I forgot one: NO NO NO NO 'Crazy Little Thing Called Love', although I can almost guarantee someone WILL sing that. *sigh*

Everyone is on target with the music, too overpowering, if the singers try to sing louder, they're told they're yelling the song, what to do!! Bucky and Kelly need to go on that other show, the wanna be AI gone country. They're style is the same every week, but that's what "America" wants, IT'S A POPULARITY CONTEST, THAT'S ALL, JUST ANOTHER BEAUTY SHOW, it's how you look, not how you sound that counts, how sad. Who knows, Ms Mandisa might already have someone waiting to give her a record contract, wouldn't doubt it, and it would be well deserved.

Mandisa should have definitely won this thing! At least several other people should have been voted off before her,(aka. Bucky, Ace, Kellie)! I mean everyone's pretty good and nice personalities and all, but Mandisa stood out far beyond most of them and still does!
