If you're longing for more of the audition phase of "American Idol," you are in luck. Newsday says that everyone's favorite judge, Simon Cowell, is planning to launch a new talent contest.
You're probably wondering how and where they could possible squeeze one more hour of reality entertainment into Fox's "AI"-packed schedule. No need to set your DVRs and TiVos because the new show is going to be part of NBC's summer lineup.
"America's Got Talent" will showcase everyone and anyone that has some sort of skill, whether it's singing, magic, comedy, finger puppets -- whatever. Like "Idol," viewers will choose the best acts. Sounds like a bit of a hodgepodge. Seriously: How can you pit a dancer against a juggler against someone that can play a ukulele with their teeth?
The winner isn't promised fame, but they will certainly get fortune to the tune of $1 million. A three-member panel of judges (sound familiar?) will be on hand. However, Cowell won't be one of them.
Auditions will begin in Los Angeles on April 6. "America's Got Talent" will premiere in summer 2006 on NBC. -- Rachel Cericola
I have a tremendous amount of talent, but I live in North Carolina and I want to be one of the contestants. I am 42 years old and I never got my break. Please help!!!
-- 2. Posted by: janice.battle@carolinavisioncenter.com at June 23, 2006 3:13 PMI have no doubt that I have the talent that will win this contest. I just need the opportunity to know where the auditions will be held.
-- 3. Posted by: Danny Clay at June 29, 2006 11:52 AMthe show that took place on 6.29.06 should bring back the guy that was in teh army who took his shirt off and did the sound effects. he had talent, when the girl after him did nothing but strip and show her tits and ass. everyone has that and stripping isnt a talent. but as the army guy with the sound effects he was good, he could be the next guy to follow in the steps of the guy from police Academy they both have talent and as for the stripper that was a sexist call.
-- 4. Posted by: chrissy at June 29, 2006 11:55 PMWhy doesn't America's Got Talent and other such venues go to southern rural areas such as Mississippi? There is a mountain of talent in these untapped areas just praying for an opportunity, but there are no outlets or resources to get to where there are outlets!!! You guys are really missing out!!!
-- 5. Posted by: joann edmond at July 7, 2006 3:49 PMtell the camera man to stay on the act that is being presented. the camera bounces around so much you can't tell what's going on and it's not fair to the contestant.

-- 9. Posted by: Faith at October 28, 2007 12:41 AMIt may not be the most original concept, it is pretty much an American Idol clone, with even some of the same people involved (ie Simon), but it definitely stands out as the show with the most talent, and I think Season 3 that premieres this week will be no different.

On Americas Got Talent, the Judges were
-- 1. Posted by: Edith Hendricks at June 22, 2006 11:20 AMTERRIBLE.
Reaching over the other judges and pushing their buttons.
You would thing the judging would be fair judging.
Some of the talent, did not have half a chance to perform or get started.
Judge, Piers Morgan was the worse of the three judges.
You could not come up with better judges then the ones you have.
