The Amazing Race All Stars: Everybody Was Kung Fu Fighting

There are only four teams left on The Amazing Race All Stars. It is getting down to the wire. The teams leave Kuala Lampur with instructions to fly 1500 miles to Hong Kong where they will then travel 22 miles by taxi to the Sun Wah Kiu Laundry where they will receive their next clue. Dustin & Kandice and Eric & Danielle leave for the airport strait away. Charla & Mirna head for a hotel to look for an internet connection. Danny & Oswald try to call airport information.

All of the ticket agents are closed when the teams arrive, but Malaysian Air opens before China Air does. Danny & Oswald do some scouting and manage to get their names on a wait list for the first flight out from Malaysia Air as do Dustin & Kandice and Eric & Danielle. They then go wait in the kind of back office area for the China Air representative to show up with Charla & Mirna. This poor worker is trying to tell them that they need to wait for him upstairs at the counter, but they try to beg their way into his office for earlier help. This guy looks like he rolled out of bed and came to work. Well, considering that it is 4:45 am, he probably did. They manage to sweet talk their way in and get their names on the list first. Dustin & Kandice and Eric & Danielle are very unhappy.

Mirna spends some time talking to Eric about how they want them to try and do anything to stop Dustin & Kandice from getting into the final three. I wonder if any opportunities will present itself.

Danny & Oswald manage to get on the China Air flight. They also give their standby special info to Charla & Mirna for Malaysia Air. This gets them bumped ahead of Dustin & Kandice for the Malaysia Air flight, which as you can imagine does not sit well with them.

Meanwhile, Eric & Danielle go to change some money. When they come back they find that the other two teams are getting on the flight and they are not. Bummer. They are just having the worst luck with flights this game.

The clue that is found at the drycleaner has a Fast Forward. Danny & Oswald decide to take it. In this FF, teams go 5 miles to a movie set, where they will take part in a high speed chase with professional drivers. When they complete Mr. Frogs Wild Ride, they will receive their next clue.

The rest of the clue is a Detour. The choices are Kung Fu Fighting or Lost in Translation. (Am I the only person on the planet that hated that movie?) In Kung Fu Fighting, teams go to Tonkin Street and climb up an 11 story bamboo ladder while trying to avoid an ongoing stunt exercise. In Lost in Translation, teams travel 4 miles to Kowloon city and look for Nga Tsin Wai Road. Once here they must search among many signs written in Chinese characters for the specific sign in the photo provided. When they find it and go in, the owner will give them their next clue.

Back at the movie set, Danny & Oswald are heading for an adventurous ride. They get all strapped in to the back of a car that takes them for a ride where the car half flips over. The gratefully get out and grab the clue from a little Travelocity gnome. It tells them they can go to the next Pit Stop the Hong Kong Jockey Club, but they must bring the gnome with them.

Dustin & Kandice’s Kung Fu is the best, because they finish the task first. The new clue sends them to catch the Star Ferry to Hong Kong Island where they must find the old police headquarters to get their next clue.
Eric & Danielle finally manage to get to Hong Kong as the other teams are doing the Detour.

Charla & Mirna appear to have a great time pretend fighting with the stunt men and manage to get their clue in a good time. Unfortunately, their taxi driver takes them to the wrong ferry and they end up on their way to Kowloon. Maybe Eric & Danielle will catch up now.

Upon arriving at the old police headquarters, Dustin & Kandice are asked “ Who is ready to break down the barriers?” In this Roadblock, one team member must kick down doors to search for their next clue. Come on, couldn’t they find something more exciting, like say learning how to do wire tricks or something? Ah, well. The clue they find tells them to drive themselves to a boat pond where there is a legion of gnomes on some toy junks. They must pull the junks across by using a rope, but if the gnome falls off, they must start over.

Danny & Oswald get to their destination broke, but in first place. They win a trip to Hong Kong for Chinese New Year.

Once the teams have given their gnomes safe travel, they must take him along with them to the next Pit Stop. They must drive along the city streets to the aforementioned Jockey Club to find Phil and the Pit Stop.

Can I just say that Eric is the epitome of a man getting lost driving. He thinks he knows where he is going and does not need to ask directions or follow a taxi. When he does finally ask for directions, they tell him to head to Happy Valley and he says OK and drives off. How many times has he been to Hong Kong that he knows where Happy Valley is. Dear God, if I were Danielle, I would shoot him and put him out of his misery.

The teams arrive at the Pit Stop in the following order:
1. Danny & Oswald
2. Dustin & Kandice
3. Charla & Mirna
4. Eric & Danielle

Lucky for Eric & Danielle, this is a non-elimination leg and they are still in the race. They are however, marked for elimination and must come in first, or incur a 30 minute penalty. Let’s see what happens next week.

Personally, I'm rooting for the Blondies to stay alive. I'm totally ready for Mirna/Charla (I always get their name wrong) to leave the show because I'm tired of their hypocrisy about 'playing the game right.'

Go Blondies!

I totally agree that the "we play the game right" crap is annoying. Everyone plays to win. Otherwise, why play?
