The Amazing Race All Stars: Cookies are Yummy!

After last week’s marathon episode, this one seems very short. The teams get their first clue in Krakow, Poland, where they left off. This clue tells them to travel 5500 miles to Kuala Lampur, Malaysia. Once they receive their clues, most of the teams head back to the hotel to try and book a flight. Uchenna & Joyce get help from the Concierge, while Danny & Oswald head up to their room and get on the phone. They both find a flight that will get them to Kuala Lampur via Frankfurt, but they will only have one hour to get on their next flight. Dustin & Kandice, Eric & Danielle and Danny & Oswald are all concerned about making the connection and choose to get on a different flight that will get them in an hour later. Uchenna & Joyce stick with their original choice. Charla & Mirna manage to get on a crazy early 4 am flight. I am really not sure how none of the other people were even offered this flight. Charla & Mirna were the second to last team to get their clue. They hogged both internet booths at the hotel, so Eric & Danielle chose to go to the airport. I guess it might be better to use the internet rather than a travel agent. Hmmm…

Baby Eric complained to Dustin & Kandice about Charla & Mirna, but the response he got was more of a good for them. I must say that it drives me crazy to listen to the teams bitch and moan about each other, when they know darn well they would do the exact same thing. It’s a RACE for cryin out loud! In true toddler fashion, Eric would not let Mirna & Charla jump ahead of them to check in. See, sometimes revenge can come faster than you think.
Charla & Mirna arrive in Kuala Lampur first. Uchenna & Joyce leave second, but they miss their connecting flight and are not able to fly out until the next day. Guess this time their luck is running out. The other three teams take the same plane.

Upon arrival in Kuala Lampur, the teams must take a bus and or train to find the Batu caves. The teams are on their own finding the best way there. Most of the teams check with the locals to find the best way there. Charla & Mirna arrive first as they arrived earliest. Danny & Oswald, Eric & Danielle and Dustin& Kandice arrive on the same flight, but take three different methods to the Batu caves.

The teams have to hike up a steep and tall staircase to get to their clue. This clue tells them to travel by taxi to the Kampung Baru Mosque. They will need to search the area for their next clue. They are also warned that there is a Yield ahead. There are two opportunities to yield other teams on the race, so they must choose wisely. If your team is yielded, you must turn over the hourglass and wait for the sand to run out before you can move on to the task.
Charla & Mirna arrive first and choose not to yield any other team. Dustin & Kandice get to the caves first out of their little group. They choose to yield Eric & Danielle. Ha Ha. This clue is a Detour. Teams must choose between Artistic Expression or Cookie Confection. In Artistic Expression, teams must travel to a place where they will use an ancient technique to create a pattern onto a 45 square foot piece of cloth and then dye the cloth. In Cookie Confection teams travel to another location and must search for a cookie with a licorice center on a table with 600 boxes of cookies. They must bite into each one until they find the ONE cookie with the licorice. Not the one BOX, but the one cookie.

Charla & Mirna, Danny & Oswald and Eric & Danielle choose Cookie Confection. Eric & Danielle are the only ones that see it through. Danny & Oswald are having quite a few arguments this time around. It must be the heat. They argue over the Detour and later too. Dustin & Kandice choose Artistic Expression from the start. To make things even worse, Danny & Oswald have to re-do their artistic expression because they have one too many rows of stamps.

Upon completing this task, the clue they receive sends them 6 miles via taxi to the neighborhood of Taman Sri Hartamas. Here, they will find a newspaper truck with their next clue. This clue reveals to them a Roadblock. (Surprise surprise) It asks them “Who wants a part-time job?” One team member must choose a bicycle with side cart and scout a neighborhood searching for people willing to sell them their old newspapers. Apparently, recycling is very big in Malaysia. Good for them. Dustin & Kandice arrive first and are able to get tons of papers. Some of the other teams are not so lucky. Danny actually ends up purchasing papers at a local store to get enough papers to make eight hands high.

Once completing this clue, the teams must travel by taxi to Carcosa Seri Negara, a mansion that is the next Pit Stop. The teams arrive at the Pit Stop in the following order:
1. Dustin & Kandice
2. Charla & Mirna
3. Eric & Danielle
4. Danny & Oswald

You’re probably wondering what happened to Uchenna & Joyce. Well, they arrived in Malaysia well after the other teams finished this leg. The first clue they see in Malaysia tells them to get a taxi and go to the Pit Stop. Well, at least they didn’t make them go through all of that stuff when there was no way to catch up. So, Uchenna & Joyce were eliminated this week. I wonder who will be left after next week. Only time will tell.
