Happy Happy Joy Joy! The end of this week's race brings us to the final three teams on The Amazing Race. Teams leave the nomadic Berber camp in the order they arrived. You know, Phil always says that they arrive at the Pit Stop for a mandatory rest period. I wonder how long that rest period is. Is it just a day or is it a few? The clue they receive sends them back to Casablanca. They must drive themselves 275 miles through the Atlas Mountains, where they must find the area called Partia de Habout (at least that is what I think Phil says). Usually, they have a little graphic that comes up with the name of the place, but I had no such luck this time. Once there, they must search for their next clue. It is a really beautiful drive across the mountain range.
Once teams arrive in Casablanca, they frantically search for directions to the place they need to go. Rob even jumps out of the car at a red light to get directions, but to no avail. Dustin & Kandace are lucky enough to find someone that knows right where it is and he accompanies them to the square and through the next task. James & Tyler arrive at the clue box and reveal the ROAD BLOCK. The roadblock on member must engage their inner chef and adventurer. They are to travel to a busy market where they will get just over a pound of camel meat. Yup, camel meat. Then they must take it to a stall where they will grind it up, season it with traditional seasonings and give it to someone to grill for them. Once it is cooked, they must consume it to get their next clue. Now, as this week's race was really not that exciting, well apart from the end, they had lots and lots and lots of camera shots of partially skinned camel necks and heads hanging from the market. Now, I am a meat eater, and not usually grossed out by these things, but it was a bit overkill for me. In case you missed it and are curious, here is a video from Yahoo travel that shows close to the same preparation that the teams had to do.
Due to their helper, Dustin & Kandace manage to get to the grilling station second, right behind Tyler & James. Rob, Kimberley, Lyn & Karlyn have much trouble finding the clue. It was actually quite entertaining watching Rob run through the street holding is arms way up in the air looking for help. Apparently, he believes they are outcasts in Casablanca and running around like an idiot will help them. Once they manage to find it and get to the market Lyn and Kimberly are the ones chosen to do the task. I am a bit taken aback as Kimberly was the one that had the most difficult time getting through the cow's lips episode, but I don't think they had any clue that this would be another eating thing. Both Rob and Karlyn were annoying their teammates as they were trying to eat, of course. Lyn managed to finish first, although, she probably would have finished more quickly if she hadn't been arguing with Karlyn.
The clue they receive once they are done sends tells them that they must now fly to Barcelona, Spain. So all the teams are off to the airport. Tyler & James get there first, with Dustin & Kandace not far behind. Dustin & Kandace actually asked Tyler & James if they would let them run ahead of them so that they could get first place and not have a penalty. Did they really think that the boys would agree to it? They really must spend all day looking at their tiaras. When Lyn, Karlyn, Rob & Kimberly get to the airport, the teams are all caught up. They are all on the same flight to Barcelona. Upon arrival in Barcelona, they must get a taxi to the Park Del Labyrinth (I think, as again, CBS did not provide us with the spelling of the name of the place). Once here, they must search through the labyrinth to get to their next clue. The park is closed when the teams arrive. They all go to a hotel to return in the morning. Dustin & Kandace find some construction workers and ask them to call a cab for them to arrive at 10:00, but to make sure that the cab will only take the two blonde haired ladies not any others. Rob sees this and sends Kimberly over to do the same for them and Tyler & James.
Even though Lyn & Karlyn are the last to find the clue box, they are the first out of the maze, as they didn’t run around on the inside like idiots. Unfortunately, they did not have a cab waiting for them when they exited. Strangely enough, neither did Tyler & James, even though Kimberly had asked for one for them. So, Lyn & Karlyn and Tyler & James go in search of taxis. It takes them quite a while to find some that will take them to the next destination. The clue they received in the labyrinth is a DETOUR. In this detour they must choose between Lug It or Lob It. In Lug it, they must travel 4 miles to Las Ramblas where they must then travel by foot to a bridge. Here they must don traditional 9.5 foot tall giant costumes and then walk more than a mile on city streets to Carrer De Sant Felip Neri where they will find a dancing giant and receive their next clue. I Lob It, they must travel 9 miles by taxi to a town square where they will take part in a tomato fight that is normally part of the Tomatina festival. They must search through a huge pile of tomatoes for the one that has a clue in it. The whole time they are searching, they are being pelted with tomatoes by onlookers.
Rob & Kimberly and Lyn & Karlyn chose Lob It. Rob & Kimberly arrived first. Usually it is Rob that gives up first, but this time it was Kimberly. She was sick and tired of being pelted with tomatoes while she was looking. Actually she tried to quite twice, but Rob wouldn't let her. For once, this was a really smart move Rob. They find the clue and move on before Lyn & Karlyn even get there. Karlyn wants to quit too, but they stick it out and find a clue too.
Tyler & James and Dustin & Kandace chose Lug It. Once they finally find the costumes they are to wear, they look pretty amusing walking up and down the streets in these huge costumes. Dustin & Kandace get away first, but Tyler & James find and catch up with them. They wander around for a while, not knowing which way to go. Dustin & Kandace stop to get directions and so do Tyler & James. Funny though, that they are going in different directions. Well, apparently, all roads lead to the giant as they both get there within minutes of each other.
This clue sends the teams to the Palau Nacional of Monjuic (thanks CBS for finally supplying the information again) which is the Pit Stop for this leg of the race. It is a beautiful fountain originally built for the world expo of 1929, it now contains an art museum. There is much tension and confusion getting to the Pit Stop. The final arrival order is:
1. Rob & Kimberly
2. Lyn & Karlyn -- first all female team in the final three in the history of TAR
3. Tyler & James
4. Dustin & Kandace
Happy Happy Joy Joy. Dustin & Kandace finally eliminated. Woo Hoo! Now they can go home and look at their tiaras some more. It will be interesting to see how Lyn & Karlyn will fare in the final three, against two teams that are in better shape. Don’t forget that they have used their brains to get them ahead, hopefully this will continue. Rob & Kimberly won a Traveocity trip with lots of trimmings for winning this leg. Rob is quite choked up that they are in the final three and is looking forward to winning the race and marrying Kimberly. Kimberly doesn't mention anything like that though....hmmmm......we shall see!
