The Futon Critic reports that NBC has renewed “30 Rock.” Are you as shocked (and delighted) as I am? What could they be thinking? Sure, they have been comparing it to “Cheers” and gave it an important (and highly competitive) timeslot. But to renew this hilarious sitcom without torturing us half the summer, leaving us to wonder the show’s fate until the eleventh hour? I feel like I just got a call from the IRS to inform me that not only can I skip filing my taxes this year, but they are going to go ahead and give me a big fat refund.
In honor of this news, I vow to use the time I would have spent blogging to promote the show in the following ways:
1. File my taxes – Unless there’s anyone at the IRS who reads this? Call me.
2. Exercise – Of course, I always make that vow. (“30 Rock,” meet New Year’s Resolutions.) But this time I really mean it. What better way to use restored blocks of precious time than to get on the elliptical machine and sweat?
Well, now that I put it that way, let me reconsider. Okay, do over.
2. Drink – Now that’s a much better way to celebrate good news, don’t you think? And since the show is set in New York (or are you still puzzled about the title?), let’s make them Manhattans. Although I’m going to have to “exercise” (like how I brought that back around?) a little bit of moderation. I’d hate for a representative of the network to show up at my door to thank me for my devotion, only to find me three Manhattans deep, sprawled on the couch, and frittering away the hours on mindless, hypnotic drivel like this. (Because you know what they say. “The NBC, she is a harsh mistress.”)
3. I don’t really have a three, but my list seemed incomplete without one. So let me use this opportunity to point anyone who has read this much of another person’s To Do list somewhere they can get their To Do List fill.
Finally, here’s another little nugget of “30 Rock” joy, from me to you.
Great news! I'm glad NBC didn't make us wait. "30 Rock" and "Entourage" are hands down two of my favorite shows. Looking forward to those reviews . . . .

I am so incredibly excited about this news. I did not start getting into this show until just a few weeks ago. I tried to watch it in the beginning, but I think it has really picked up steam. I am hoping other people give it another chance to.
