Jack Bauer is Taking a Vacation

day6.jpgSome disappointing news for you "24" fans.

First up, Co-creator and Executive Producer Joel Surnow has clocked out of 24. Surnow's contract with FOX TV was scheduled to expire on April 30, 2008, but he negotiated an early release of February 13, 2008 so that he could start working on new projects. Hmmm, wonder how this will affect the show?

Next up, looks like Jack won't be saving the day this season. The word is not official but seems that Day 7 will not be airing till 2009. This will make the hiatus 19 long months. The reasoning is that 24 is best viewed as 24 back to back episodes (goes along with whole title of the show thing) and there are only 8 that have been taped. Now that the Writer's Strike is officially over, it would be a bit of a time crunch to get 16 more episodes taped. Hopefully with this extremely long break, Day 7 will come back strong in 2009 and seriously make up for the crap that was Day 6. We have faith in you Jack.
